End of Abyss keyart
Out now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC – End of Abyss

Some places are better left unexplored. Unfortunately for Cel, she’s been sent directly into one of them.

End Of Abyss puts you in the role of a young combat technician investigating mysterious disturbances inside a sprawling underground facility, only for the mission to turn into something far more dangerous.

Available for ÂŁ22.69 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store, this atmospheric action-adventure comes from Section 9 Interactive and Epic Games Publishing.

Into The Abyss

Cel’s assignment begins with a simple goal: investigate disturbances of unknown origin. What she finds is anything but straightforward.

The facility has been abandoned and left in a sorry state, with broken machinery and derelict areas hiding whatever caused everything to go so badly wrong. Worse still, the place is home to creatures that are very definitely not pleased to have visitors.

End Of Abyss is built around that feeling of stepping further into somewhere you really shouldn’t be. The deeper Cel goes, the more she uncovers about the facility and the events that left it in ruins.

Cel isn’t exactly walking into the compound as an unstoppable action hero either. The creatures lurking within are stronger than she is, meaning survival depends on adapting to the threats around her and improving her equipment as she progresses. So yes, the combat sits alongside exploration, with the two feeding into each other as Cel becomes better equipped to deal with the horrors ahead. There’s a sense that every encounter needs to be taken seriously rather than simply blasting everything that moves.

There’s More To Explore Than Meets The Eye

And don’t think that this facility is just a simple linear corridor from beginning to end. Branching paths and hidden areas encourage exploration, with Cel’s Scanner and other tools helping reveal places that aren’t immediately accessible.

As new abilities and equipment become available, previously inaccessible routes can be revisited. That opens up forgotten sections of the complex and gives Cel another reason to look back through areas she’s already survived.

It’s a structure that makes the facility feel like a place worth learning rather than just a backdrop for the next fight.

From Little Nightmares Veterans To A New Dark World

End Of Abyss has been on our radar for a while. We previously covered its announcement back in 2025, when Section 9 Interactive revealed its dark sci-fi adventure and its connection to developers who had worked on the Little Nightmares series.

Now that the descent is finally here, those early glimpses of the mysterious underground complex can be replaced by the full journey. End Of Abyss is available for ÂŁ22.69 on Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store), PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store, inviting players to follow Cel into a facility where the further she travels, the less familiar the world becomes.

Our review is on the way.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
