The developers give you a three-step plan as to how to play Endling – Extinction is Forever: 1. Play the game. 2. Hold back the tears. 3. Cry lots! And now you can do it with a new-gen Xbox Series X|S and PS5 version.Â
And cry you will: Endling – Extinction is Forever is perhaps one of the most brutally honest games out there, educating us all on how so many species across the world are constantly under the threat of deforestation, climate change, pollution, poaching and many more human actions.
Following a release onto last-gen consoles this summer, Endling is now getting a new lick of paint as it gets a dedicated Xbox Series X|S and PS5 edition.
Taking control of a mother fox trying to guide her litter of cubs through a world shaped only in mankind’s eye, with no measures taken to protect the local wildlife, Endling is terribly bleak; although in reality, there is rarely a happy ending for nature in its battle against man. Navigating across a number of beautifully created 3D environments is always a challenge, especially when you have many tiny foxes on your tail – stealth is the way forward, as you dodge through trees and run into the shadows as you attempt to make it back to some form of safety.
Visually, Endling looks stunning, and that is only emphasised with a move to Xbox Series X|S Enhanced graphics. On Series X and PS5, expect 4K resolution at 60fps, with that dropping to 30fps on Series S consoles. PS5 users also get access to Dual Sense haptic feedback – you lucky ones!
As you progress through Endling, you’ll:
- Explore devastated environments based on factual current issues
- Hunt other animals to feed your cubs and avoid becoming the prey
- Put your survival instinct to the test and get involved in emotionally taxing decisions
- Find new shelters to be safe from natural and unnatural threats
- Care for your kits, feed them, and teach them new skills to make them less vulnerable
If you fancy picking up a copy of Endling – Extinction is Forever, whether that be on Xbox One, PS4, Switch or PC, or as an updated package on Xbox Series X|S or PS5, you can do so on the respective marketplaces. For Xbox, it’ll cost you ÂŁ24.99 for your tears – although act quickly on the Xbox Store and you may pick up a discount.
