If you’ve ever dreamed about running your own bakery, then Sweet Bakery Tycoon could be your cup of tea (or coffee) as you get to create and manage a bakery of your dreams.
Developed by Baltoro Games and already released on Nintendo Switch, this version is optimised for Xbox Series X|S and is available to download on the Xbox Store now for £4.19.
The gameplay is simple and easy to pick up. You’re serving behind a counter and get a quick succession of customers whose order for cakes and drinks is shown pictorially as icons. Your job is to make up the order as quickly as you can, otherwise customers will get upset. The faster you get their order ready, the bigger the tip you’ll get. Think Overcooked! but with cakes.
You’ll have to bake cakes in your oven and then decorate them, choosing from a selection of creams, fruit and decorations. Drinks might be hot, where you’ll have to get to grips with the espresso machine or cold fruit cocktails, which are made in your blender.
The game is arranged in levels with each having a goal at the start such as making a certain amount of money. There are 60 levels in total to tackle, with each getting increasingly difficult as you face customers with more complicated orders and less time to fulfil them. Early levels ease you in gently with customers that only want simple items like a plain cake, or a single coffee but in later levels you’ll have to juggle multiple complex orders and use several pieces of equipment simultaneously to fulfil them.
At the end of each level you’ll be given a star rating based on your performance and shown how much money you earned. You will use the money to upgrade equipment and ingredients, which allows you to make a larger range of items.
Customers also want a pleasant place to sit and enjoy their treats so it is your job to decorate the bakery, using your earnings to change up the decor including the walls, flooring, furniture and decorations. New items are continually being unlocked which means you can also fulfil your interior design dreams as well as your bakery ones.
