We’ve all come across them. Xbox Live is littered with them and as the community grows, things seem to only get worse. What am I talking about? Those annoying ‘bad’ gamers that we have to share our matches with!
Whether it’s in the form of abusive messages or inappropriate gameplay, we’ve all seen them but perhaps help is at hand and things could indeed start to move in the right direction if Micheal Dunn, Program Manager on Xbox Live has his way.
In a post over on the Xbox News Wire, Dunn has said that from this month, players that don’t behave themselves on Xbox Live will start to receive warnings as their reputations drop. They will be reminded about their effect on the community and will be encouraged to seek a more positive mental attitude.
Obviously no-one can ‘make’ someone change the way they are, but if these communications do not see an upturn in the players attitude then they may well be hit with some penalties. Get knocked down into the ‘Avoid Me’ rating and you’ll see reduced matchmaking pairings and the use of certain privileges such as that all-important Twitch broadcasting removed.
Of course, the majority of gamers on the Xbox Live service are good guys and hopefully these penalties will persuade those known troublemakers to maybe think about changing their ways.
Let’s hope so anyways!
