Enter the cyberscape once again with Jack Move

With PC gamers seeing their latest foray into all things cyberpunk earlier this month, as Jack Move released, now it is the turn of us console players. Developers So Romantic, those behind this gritty, hi-pixel hack-em-up are keen to entice you with a captivating story inspired by the likes of Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, and perhaps a little bit of Cyberpunk 2077 to spice up the mixture.

Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, Jack Move tells the tale of Noa, a young hacker who takes on the mega-corp Monomind that have just so happened to kidnap her father. She can’t do all this alone, however – her hacking skills will only take her so far. Alas, Noa is accompanied by her bestie Ryder, ex-spy Guin, and alcoholic uncle – what more could you need?

Whilst the story may seem simple enough (rescue Dad, and maybe do some soul-searching along the journey), the gameplay is anything but, playing out in intense turn-based action. Around many of the dirty and dingy alleyways that make up the sprawling Monocity One typically exist enemies, and you must adapt your Cyber Deck to suit each changing battle. By customising the software on your cyberdeck, adding transient buffs and permanent abilities, you’ll be constantly switching between an offense-minded Deck, and a defensive one, as is the nature of turn-based systems. Play it safe, chipping away at your enemy’s health, until they become vulnerable and strike!

Following battles, the second part of the loop is to add hardware upgrades to your loadout, generating permanent upgrades and ability slots for Noa.

A more complete list of features present in Jack Move include:

  • Gorgeous “Hi-Bit” pixel art inspired by retro RPGs and enhanced with modern techniques.
  • Battle your foes in cyberspace. Take them down using a multitude of sweet hacking software.
  • Explore the dangerous world of Monocity One and takedown Monomind, the evil mega-corporation that controls it.
  • Play as Noa Solares, a sassy hacker out to save her father and the world.
  • Fight your way through dungeons filled with all sorts of cyberpunk villany. Street punks, gangsters, corporate militia and horrific cyber-experiments-gone-wrong will all be vying to take you down!

Cyberpunk really is all the rage, and Jack Move is yet another title to tap into that recently exploded market. You can pick up a copy of Jack Move from the Xbox Store for £14.99, if you are playing on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One. Alternatively, the game is available on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC.

Game Description:

Take on the role of Noa: A young vigilante hacker from Bright Town. As the overreaching mega-corporation, Monomind, kidnaps her estranged father, Noa has no choice but to get him back, before it’s too late. Help her find her dad, as she finds herself on the way. Noa won’t be alone on her journey. She’ll be helped out by her best friend and tactical planner, Ryder, as well as her Martini drinking uncle and ex-corporate spy, Guin Blakely. Cyberspace Battles Jack Move features beautifully animated, exciting, and tactical turn-based battles. Customize the software of your Cyber Deck to switch roles mid-battle, balancing offense, defense, and buffs. Choosing which software you load during battle is the key to victory! Hardware upgrades can help boost your stats, increase the amount of software you can install or give Noa extra abilities.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
