It was back at the start of 2018 when we had the opportunity to review Dustoff Heli Rescue 2 on Xbox One. And being honest, despite a few shortcomings, it was really good fun to play through. Now though we see the same Invictus Games team preparing to deliver the third title in the series, as Dustoff Z is announced for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Yep, you’re reading that right, Dustoff Z will be the third game in the series once it drops onto Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year, and even though Xbox One players only currently have access to the second of the trio – with the first game seemingly limited to PC and mobile – that’s absolutely fine by us.
Playing out as an arcade-action helicopter search and rescue combat experience, with Zordix Publishing helping push the console and PC launch, Dustoff Z, will see you as humanity’s last hope as you take to the skies and show off your helicopter piloting skills in order to save pockets of survivors who have been overrun by the undead.
Thankfully your inner-pilot knows a thing or two about what it takes to beat back zombie waves, and by equipping your helicopter out with all manner of weaponry, should be able to push them back and ensure the world is kept save once more. This will mean you get the opportunity to add and utilise machine-guns, rocket launchers, buzz saws, tesla coils and more in your hero status earning quests. And Dustoff Z will even let you change the body of your copter too should you so wish.
As us gamers know though, saving the day can’t be done alone and in Dustoff Z we’ll be found hiring shooters to put those weapons to use, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, as you decimate the zombie population, rescue survivors, protect aid-providing convoys, and destroy high-value enemy targets. You’ll also be able to use your chopper’s winch hook to haul in and collect supplies, place base defenses, drag the corpses of zombies back to your base for analysis and even use objects in the environment as weapons like battering rams.
And further still, if you’re in need of dragging a friend in to step behind the guns as you deftly buzz your helicopter through the decimated cityscapes overrun by the zombie hordes, then Dustoff Z will allow for it.
We’ll be sure to bring you the full release date as and when we can, but for now check out the announcement trailer below and hold tight for the launch of Dustoff Z on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
