Escape the mundane 9-5 in The Last Worker

The Last Worker Xbox

Everyone dreams of retiring early and living out their days away from the humdrum of the working week. However, that is always easier said than done. Sometimes, even just leaving a particular place of work can be a minefield. Worse still when an employee doesn’t take the hint and just leave themselves. Take Kurt for example, literally the last human employee at Jüngle. Multiple attempts to remove him have been made, but he has other ideas. Find out what they are in The Last Worker, out today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

The Last Worker is a satirical adventure game. As Kurt, you and his robotic companion SKEW work day-to-day in the Jüngle factory. They are a mega-corporation and the world’s biggest online retailer. That sounds familiar. They’ve also been doing some nefarious activities outside of the factory. Kurt is unaware of this though, living, eating, working and sleeping within the factory. It is only when outside interference comes and finds him that he decides to stand up and be counted.

“Making The Last Worker has been a long and hard journey but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” said Writer and Director, Jörg Tittel, whose company, Oiffy, is also producing the game. “I got to work with the magicians at Wolf & Wood, the legendary Mick McMahon, bring composer Oliver Kraus and opera star Jakub Józef Orliński together and direct the finest actors under the sun. It’s tough to make something original but all these talented friends have made it feel natural. I hope our game will spark conversation and – most importantly – bring fun and joy.”

“It has been a joy building the vibrant-dystopia of The Last Worker,” said Ryan Bousfield, Creative Director at Wolf & Wood. “We aim to surprise the player at every turn, with a satirical adventure, filled with varied gameplay, unusual missions, narrative twists and a foul mouthed robot.”

Take a look at the launch trailer for all the information you need:

“Videogames are a great vehicle for escapism, having fun, enjoying art and the narrative, but sometimes, just sometimes, there is a game that comes with a great message,” said Leo Zullo, Managing Director at Wired Productions. “Wired don’t shy away from games with strong messages and The Last Worker has this in abundance!”
