Esports to be on safer grounds during Corona Pandemic

-

The hypercritical situation of Coronavirus has brought the whole world to a cease. The dynamic world has now become static. Everybody is quarantined and all the activities of life are stuck in place. The stadiums have become dormant for weeks and this period may extend depending on the situation occurring. The sports have been muted for the world.

Even if the sports have been terminated there is a ray of hope. The void that has been created by this pandemic situation is deep but esports has filled this in many ways. The competitions are now rooted online making esports the savoir. The world-famous tournaments can now be viewed while sitting in your homes.

All the competitions have gone online. Streaming matches online via sites like Twitch and YouTube, pro leagues for games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch and Call of Duty can now broaden their audience by showcasing its competitions to consumers. The betting sites are not easily available for everyone. You’ve got to be careful when betting on CSGO as companies are cutting cost to keep their business afloat.

Esports is different from the traditional sports where financial assistance is necessary for covering the whole event. Esports only focuses on the live audience. People being quarantined would dive on to their mobile phones or PC with esports becoming the only option in the domain of sports. No matter what the population, a handsome audience would be watching growing the esports industry even more.

Increment in Online audience:

That online audience has continued to grow over the past weeks as much of the world has stayed home to cope with the outbreak. The audience has increased in numbers in the past two months, as many countries have been under this pandemic and locked down. To escape the anxiety of the situation people go for esports.

For instance, the first day of the ESL Pro League, which features the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, reported an audience increase to 146,000 viewers. After this many, more matches were conducted and other countries were locked down too. Gaming has been boosted too. The people playing games and people watching, both rates have inflated. During the first month, Greece, Italy, and Spain saw increases of 50 percent, 41 percent, and 26 percent week-over-week, respectively. This will continue to increase.

Now the people who have heard of esports, but may have not had time to check it out, have a chance to do so in order to escape the severe conditions of the world. It also promotes opportunities for content creators, already celebrities to younger audiences. The school-age viewers are more into this since their educational institutions have been closed. In Italy, for example, there has been a 66-percent viewership spike in minutes watched from the first week of February to the past week when the national quarantine began, according to Stream Elements, a company that provides tools for streamers’ online broadcasts.

The safer grounds of Esports

Esports is on safer grounds because all the live events involving the audience have been cancelled. League of Legends championship, ESL, Rocket League, Overwatch and many more live events have been postponed. However, online plays are still on going. Even the real world sports stars with nothing to do these days have been observed in getting involved in esports by streaming or playing online.
