Spearhead Games is dusting off the Book of Destinies for Ever After Again: A Stories Adventure, a new fantasy action RPG following the events of the previously released Stories: The Path of Destinies.
Yep yep, Reynardo, the swashbuckling fox at the heart of the original, is back – although his happily-ever-after hasn’t gone quite to plan.
The new adventure is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a playable demo now available on Steam. This time, Reynardo must once again navigate a series of branching futures, learning from his failures as he searches for the path that can actually lead to victory.

The Book Of Destinies Opens Again
The Book of Destinies remains at the centre of things, allowing players to explore different outcomes based on the decisions they make. Some paths will inevitably end badly, but those failures aren’t wasted, with each attempt revealing new consequences, secrets and possibilities.
Players can also jump back to important decision points rather than replaying everything from scratch, making it easier to experiment with different choices and discover the route towards the game’s true Hero’s Path.
The sequel is designed as a standalone experience too, so newcomers won’t need to know the events of Stories: The Path of Destinies before picking up the cutlass.

Reynardo Gets A Combat Overhaul
Away from its branching narrative, Ever After Again promises a faster and more flexible combat system. Reynardo can combine melee and ranged weapons with magical abilities, while card-based progression lets players upgrade weapons, spells and passive powers.
Different combinations can be used to create flexible builds, allowing players to change Reynardo’s approach without having to start the adventure over.
The colourful fantasy setting returns as well, complete with floating islands, airships, magical threats and the series’ sarcastic narrator keeping an eye on Reynardo’s latest triumphs and disasters.
A Demo Is Available Now
There is no full release date just yet, but the Steam demo gives players an early opportunity to see what Spearhead Games is doing with this return to its fantasy world.
Ever After Again: A Stories Adventure is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With Reynardo back in the Book of Destinies, it looks like his quest for a happy ending isn’t quite finished yet.
