What to expect from the first of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 content

-

It seems to be the multiplayer shooter that just keeps on giving, and thanks to Ubisoft, we can now get a sneak peak at just what to expect from the first content drops for the start of Year 3 of the popular FPS squad-based shooter – Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

The first of this seasons content pieces comes in the form of Operation Chimera, and the new and highly anticipated co-op Outbreak Event that has been advertised in recent weeks. Two new specialist biohazard Operators will also join the lineup to face the new Outbreak.

Whilst most Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege updates are usually met with a level of excitement due to the promise of a new map, this update is one players have been anticipating even more so thanks to the introduction of a new co-op mode. The new Operators facing the threat haven’t yet been fully revealed, however there will be one new attacker and one new defender joining the current roster of field Operators, with one coming from France and the other a Russian.

The new threat is unlike any seen before in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Due to an infestation of unknown origin, the small town of New Mexico is under attack, and with the new threat bringing a true danger to everyone involved, the authorities have decided to quarantine the entire town. Civilians and Soldiers are all trapped within its limits and it’s up to the World’s elite national Counter-Terrorism Unit’s to send in some of the finest biohazard specialists to assist team Rainbow.

With their expertise in biological warfare and conflicts involving bio-chemical weapons, they are the best hope against the new threat inside the Quarantine Zone.

The new Outbreak Event itself is the first of the seasonal events heading to Rainbow Six Siege and will require players to team up in threes to prepare for action. With monstrous exploding enemies and hulking horrors lurking within, the Rainbow Six team are about to come up against a threat unlike anything they’ve ever faced before.

Armoured enemies are set to take the battlefield, the level of destruction is about to be cranked up yet another notch, and with enemies that look to get in close rather than utilise cover, players will need to figure out a new way to come out on top.

Operation Chimera will be available on February 19th for Xbox One and all platforms by March 6th, whilst the highly anticipated Outbreak mode will be available on from March 6th to April 3rd on all platforms.

Stay tuned for more information regarding upcoming events and as well as more news on the two upcoming Operators as the Six Invitational Finals progress through February 17th and 18th.
