Ah Fable. How we miss you. How we’d love to head back into your world, kick some chickens, fire off some magic and wield a few swords. We’d kill for the chance to drink at your taverns and would revel in the delights of facing off against another Demon Door. But alas, it looks like we won’t be able to do such a thing for a while. So I guess the arrival of Fable Fortune on Xbox One will have to do instead!
It may come with the Fable name, but Fortune is about as far away from the old Lionhead series as we can get. Firstly, you must know that this is a Game Preview title, meaning that it is currently a work in progress, may change over time and could possibly never release (although that is a big improbability). By getting involved now, you are helping shape the future of the game, giving valuable feedback to the developers in the hope that Fable Fortune will just get better with time.
So, with that out of the way, what can we expect? Well, Fable Fortune is a fast paced, tactical collectible card game that just so happens to be set in Albion, features legendary Fable villains and lets you shape your Hero towards either the Good or Evil way of life. You’ll find iconic locations, getting the chance to compete in PvP leagues and special events as you shape your decks and tune your tactics.
There is a free trial available right now, or you can jump in with a purchase for £9.99 (currently discounted to £7.99). What with it being an Xbox Play Anywhere title, you’ll also be able to jump ship and play the game over on PC too. Don’t know how they got it so wrong… from the moment they announced a multiplayer only version of a much loved single player only game you could just see the trainwreck looming… Yet they carried on, sticking their fingers in their ears… until one day they pulled them out and finally heard what everybody else already knew… nobody wanted the turd they were working on… and then rather than get the studio to start work on Fable 4 they just shut them down. Idiotic.
