The official creepy keyart for Mortanis Prisoners as it launches on Xbox and PlayStation
Mortanis Prisoners – a survival horror game on Xbox and PlayStation

Some horror games lean into monsters. Others lean into atmosphere. Mortanis Prisoners does both – and sets its story against one of the darkest backdrops imaginable.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S for ÂŁ16.74, as well as on PlayStation 5, this survival horror shooter from Honor Games, published by Axyos Games, drops players into a grim and oppressive setting where cruelty and terror collide.

This is not light horror. Mortanis Prisoners aims for something far more unsettling.

A Desperate Fight For Survival

Mortanis Prisoners is set within a Nazi concentration camp, where a planned rebellion has been uncovered and executions are imminent. Amid the chaos and brutality, something else awakens; something far darker than the human cruelty already present.

Players step into the role of a lone survivor attempting to escape not only armed guards and impossible odds, but a deeper, unnatural threat lurking in the shadows of the camp.

The result is a survival horror experience built around desperation, isolation, and constant pressure.

Atmosphere Over Excess

From the outset, Mortanis Prisoners commits to an oppressive tone. Dark corridors, limited resources, and environmental storytelling create a suffocating sense of vulnerability. The setting is deliberately uncomfortable, and the game does little to offer relief.

Rather than relying purely on action, the experience blends shooting mechanics with exploration and puzzle-solving. Inventory management plays a key role, forcing players to make difficult choices about what to carry and what to leave behind.

Bullets are valuable. Supplies are scarce. Mistakes are costly. Standard.

Combat, Puzzles, And Psychological Pressure

While firearms are present, this is not a run-and-gun shooter. Realistic shooting mechanics are paired with resource management systems that encourage careful play. Encounters demand planning rather than recklessness.

Puzzles break up the tension, requiring players to examine their surroundings and think critically under pressure. Combined with the dark narrative framing, these quieter moments often feel just as intense as combat.

The horror here isn’t just about what attacks you – it’s about the weight of the environment itself.

A Heavy And Uncompromising Experience

Mortanis Prisoners is clearly designed to deliver a mature, intense survival horror story. Its historical setting and grim tone ensure that this is not an easy playthrough, emotionally or mechanically.

Now available exclusively on Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store), or the PlayStation Store for PS5, the game offers a dark, story-driven horror experience for players willing to engage with its difficult themes and survival-focused gameplay systems.

Some horrors are imagined. Others are rooted in history. Mortanis Prisoners asks you to face both.
