Fall Guys + Tony Hawk’s + Mirror’s Edge = Makea Games’ Supermoves

You’ve probably not heard of Supermoves, nor the new Finnish studio behind it – Makea Games. Very soon though, you will. In fact, you’re hearing of them right now.

Having secured funding of €1.3m in its pre-seed funding round, Makea Games have announced Supermoves, a new parkour experience that blends together elements of Fall Guys, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Mirror’s Edge. At least, that’s the plan.

Due to release on PC and console (shall we have a guess at Xbox, PlayStation and maybe Switch?) in 2023, Supermoves aims to fuse together free movement and interaction with other players in multiplayer. It’s here where you’ll be found running the walls, grinding on rails and competing together by pulling off awesome  parkour tricks.

Supermoves’ game modes include Rising Tide, where players must avoid a ball pit rising like a tidal wave, and Chase Tag, which is a game of tag between players.

But there’s more and they can also build their own levels and worlds by pressing one button with a very easy to-use editor – with just their game controller – in full multiplayer with friends. Supermoves uses the latest Unreal Engine 5 game engine, which enables – among other things – fully real-time lighting and massive multiplayer arenas.

Supermoves will be available on the consoles and PC.

“Currently, the challenge is the inaccessible creation tools which have prevented the  majority of players from producing content for games themselves. Supermoves creates a  strong community of players and all content can be played alone or with friends – but  you can also create your own levels with the help of Makea Games’ easy-to-use game  platform. The platform will expand in the future to be capable of making almost any kind  of game. This is how we strive to build a unified Makeaverse, where games are  developed together with the gaming community,” says Toikka.

But Supermoves can only exist thanks to the fund raising that enables the Finnish team to work.

“Community-focused games that encourage players to create their own content, worlds  and experiences are the future of gaming. Makea Games’ ‘Supermoves’ competitive PvP  gaming platform and their best-in-class in-game UGC tools will offer players countless  hours of creative enjoyment and entertainment. The Makea Games team has a unique  blend of youth and experience, which is a perfect mix to build new experiences for the  next gaming generation. We’re very proud to support them on this journey.”, says Harri  Manninen from Play Ventures.

Makea Games will fuel the creativity of the gaming community thanks to their unique strength – a game platform that utilizes the players’ own creativity. Using the platform, players can create games ranging from sports to racing to  shooters. The goal is to produce – together with the players – virtually endless amounts of content, which means that players will constantly have new things to experience and play. Just a game controller is enough to produce content and you don’t need coding  skills or a separate editor to create new levels or game worlds.

“We are in the process of building a UGC (user generated content) -driven multiplayer  world, where players can make almost any kind of game content themselves and utilize  their own creativity. Our vision is that Makea Games will become a universe of several  games, where there is always something new to play, because the players themselves  participate in the creation of the game content. With our gaming platform, it’s easy to  make UGC and enable creativity. When we get the community involved in the  development, we can constantly throw more toys into the sandbox which the players can  use to build any kind of content.” says Makea Games Founder, CEO and Creative  Director Tomi Toikka.

We’ll keep you in the loop as to how Supermoves and Makea Games make waves.
