Should you be in the market for a new roguelite, but are looking to hit the genre from a slightly different angle – that of a light-hearted nature – then FALLING OUT should quite possibly be on your radar.
Firestoke and PolyCrunch Games have today announced that their challenging – yet highly accessible roguelite – FALLING OUT, will be dropping onto console and PC later in 2022. If you can’t wait until then, those teams have also confirmed that a feature-rich demo will be immediately available to download on Steam.
“ FALLING OUT was inspired by the charmingly colourful 16-bit era of gaming, the challenging and rewarding nature of classic roguelikes but with the aim to bring it to a wider audience. Firestoke was the perfect partner for my vision due to their desire to make accessible games that everyone can enjoy. That’s what we’re building and I can’t wait for everyone to try the demo!” said Neville Attard, Founder of PolyCrunch Games.
So what is FALLING OUT? Well, in it you’ll get to take control of two accidental adventurers, Giorgio and Felicie, as you explore ancient kingdoms, discover treasures, take on ghastly creatures and try to avoid traps. The things is, this dream getaway has quickly turned into a holiday from hell, so you’ll need to totally ditch the itinerary and work your own unique path, navigating through procedurally generated temples that are scattered with unique obstacles and challenges. All of these promise to offer up the perfect balance of risk and reward.
Hitting it in a solo fashion or via cooperative multiplayer, utilising the different attributes of the characters, seamlessly switching between them, should well allo decent traversal of each world. It’s the only way you will find the way out. Just be aware – the temples are a little prone to flooding so don’t hang about for too long. And certainly don’t leave your partner behind…
“We’re delighted to have partnered with PolyCrunch Games to bring FALLING OUT to a global audience. Our aim is to deliver compact, accessible, social and – most importantly – joyful games for console and PC. FALLING OUT is all of those things and much more!” Paul Farley CEO and Founder of Firestoke added. “The game is currently scheduled to be our first release and we can’t wait to share it with players later in 2022.”
