Get ready to trade your straw hat for a radiation suit as you head on down to Farmatic.
Frozen Way has officially announced Farmatic, a new farming life simulator with a unique twist. Set in a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1970s and 1990s, this ambitious title blends cozy farming with automation, RPG elements, and dangerous underground exploration.
Announced with a new trailer and developer log, Farmatic is coming to Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC with full cross-platform co-op support for up to four players. Get eyes on each at the bottom of this piece.
More Than Your Average Farm
At its heart, Farmatic is a charming and relaxing farming experience. You will plant and harvest crops, raise animals, and build your dream farm. However, this retro-futuristic world comes with some perks.
Players can utilise friendly bots and simple machines to help with daily tasks, making farm work more efficient without replacing the cozy pace of life. If only we had them in Farming Simulator 25!
The game is designed to be a relaxing yet engaging experience, where you can gradually transform your humble plot into a thriving, semi-automated homestead.
Danger Down in the Mines
But life isn’t all peaceful on the surface. Far beneath the tranquil fields lies a dangerous and irradiated zone: the underground mines. Here, you will find Rhemidium, a mysterious and highly unstable radioactive metal crucial for unlocking the game’s most advanced features.
These expeditions are not without risk. The mines are home to mutated subterranean lifeforms guarding the valuable resources. You’ll need to fight for rare ores and survive increasing levels of radiation, which requires a protective suit to even enter. Every trip into the depths is a strategic challenge.
The Fruits of Your Labour (and Radiation)
The rewards from the mines directly impact your life on the farm. Once processed by the town’s chemist, Rhemidium can be used to create special soil that allows you to grow mutated crops.
These unique plants have specific, well-defined effects and utilities. For example, you can grow fiery chili plants and process them into ammunition with fire damage properties. Other mutated crops will be required to complete certain quests for the local townsfolk, adding a narrative purpose to your agricultural experiments.
Village Life and Co-op Farming
Beyond your own fields, Farmatic features a small-town community full of memorable characters, quests, and interactions. Helping the eccentric local scientist or friendly shopkeepers is not just rewarding in itself; it also unlocks new tools, resources, and gameplay features.
One of the game’s standout features is its four-player cooperative gameplay. Thanks to full crossplay support, you can team up with friends across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox to build a shared farm, divide tasks, and explore the dangerous mines together.
Farmatic is shaping up to be a wonderfully strange and ambitious new entry in the cozy farming genre. While the exact launch date will be revealed in the near future, you can wishlist the game on Steam now and prepare for a refreshingly different take on rural life.
