The latest captivating story focused trailer for DONTNOD’s upcoming action-RPG Vampyr has arrived and delves deeper into its strange world, unveiling the wider narrative arcs of the game.
After returning from the Great War to London in 1918, seeing it’s been devastated by war and disease, Dr. Jonathan Reid awakens to the formerly hidden world of ungodly creatures, secret societies and vampire hunts. As a newly-turned vampire, he struggles to adapt to this new way of life, trying to repress the thirst for blood and attempting to rationalise the stand new world he’s been thrust into. It’s incredibly difficult for Dr. Reid to interpret the mysterious ancient societies, the ongoing murders and the large-scale vampire hunting though.
Although driven by his desire to understand who transformed him and why, the continued search to find a cure for a disease that’s decimating the people of London is leading Dr. Reid on a path there may be not turning back from. The temptation to feed on those he swore to protect could prove too difficult to resist…
Vampyr will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 5th June, but for now, check out the video below. It’s well worth a watch, even if only for the wonderfully eerie cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” that features.
