Fancy a little bit of FPS action mixed with rogue-lite elements in a wonderful anime-inspired world? Well, Away: Journey to the Unexpected has arrived on Xbox One to provide just that, but you’ll also need to work on your negotiation skills too in order to truly succeed.
In Away: Journey to the Unexpected, your greatest strength isn’t that you’re an epic fighter or a renowned hero; instead it’s the art of making kick-ass friends and it’ll come in handy after your parents mysteriously disappear. Exploring the colourful anime style environments and killing enemies who get in your way is the order of the day. Along the way, you’ll come across a variety of characters ready to be recruited to fight by your side and it’s down to you to convince them to actually join the team – like Batman did in the Justice League film. Amongst the quirky characters in this light-hearted tale are bizarre space oddities and robotic cowboy bounty hunters, to name just a couple.
As Away has a sprinkle of rogue-lite to it too, death will see the need to restart back at the beginning, but you will keep gold, XP and any acquired allies for further playthroughs. And so if that sounds right up your alley, simply head on over to the Xbox Store and grab it for £13.59 on Xbox One. It’s already out on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, should you prefer to play on those platforms.
