Fight your way back to the ’90s with the Breakers Collection

breakers collection

Whether you prefer an Xbox pad in your hands, or that of PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or PC, it’s the Breakers Collection that you should be getting down and dirty with.

Available to purchase, download and play right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC is Breakers Collection – a double pack of old 1990’s Breakers games that are looking to worm their way into the modern gaming audience.

Priced up at £16.74 from the Xbox Store – and you should expect to pay roughly that elsewhere too – Breakers Collection is the latest from the QUByte Interactive team, as they continue their push to bring some of those decades-old classics into the modern era.

Breakers by name, breakers by nature and with the Breakers Collection on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC you’ll find access to a couple of the finest Breakers experiences available. It’s the original Breakers that you’ll fast fall in love with, as QUByte (they having previously been behind Box Align and Opus Castle) take that game from the mid-90s and thrust it into your face. From there, Breakers Revenge follows – expect plenty of action fighting to take place in each game.

Obviously things are slightly different as opposed the original Neogeo and Arcade versions of both Breakers and Breakers Revenge and in Breakers Collection you’ll discover full optimisation for new-gen consoles, the classic Versus mode running both locally (you’ll need a friend on the couch) and via the online systems that power our worlds.

Further are Ranked battles, an Arcade Mode, Team Battle, and then some Training options too. An Art Gallery is thrown in too.

If you’re up for a bit of fighting action and fancy being whisked back to the 1990’s, then you could probably do worse than check out what the Breakers Collection has to offer. You’ll find the Xbox Store is able to deliver the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S version of the game (Smart Delivery is in house so you’ll be playing the best version for your specific console), whilst the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop and Steam page will cover what is needed for other formats.

Let us know if you grab it and hold tight for a review of Breakers Collection from us soon.

Game Description:

In this collection, the player will have the opportunity to play the classic Versus Mode local or with online lobbies, Arcade Mode, Ranked battles with Rollback Netcode (GGPO), Team Battle, Art gallery, Training mode and more! Breakers Collection features both of the original games (Breakers and Breakers Revenge) and a brand new content for the cult-classic among the fans of Fighting Games, that was first released in 1996 for the Neogeo and Arcades and after released with a sequel in 1998 with additional playable characters, balance adjustments and new gameplay elements. Breakers Collection is an action-fighting game, with a roster with many playable characters (10 in Breakers Revenge), that were all known by the fans from around the world. The special actions are also similar to other fighting games from the same era, although the dashing and back-stepping techniques tend to differ between characters.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
