Firegirl: Hack 'n Splash Rescue Xbox

We love a good pun here, so Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue has already won us over with that title. Best of all, Firegirl has just been announced for Xbox consoles, as well as PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. And when you see the below trailer, we reckon it will have won you over too.

Arriving on Xbox on 14th December, Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue is a frantic firefighting frenzy where, as the new recruit in the local fire station, you must tackle procedurally generated blazes whilst saving the civilians. I don’t know about you but something about fire being procedurally generated feels exactly like fire behaves back out in the real world. Could this be the real Firefighters: The Simulation game?

And as we know how quick fire can spread, Firegirl is aware of this also by giving you only a three-minute time limit to save those helpless civilians. And cats. But mainly civilians. Or cats, depending on your allegiances.

You do have some tools at your disposal though. An axe to ‘hack’ your way through obstacles and your hose to ‘splash’ away those dastardly pyro-monsters. Your hose can even be used as a makeshift jetpack to boost you up through buildings and into otherwise inaccessible areas.

But let’s talk visuals too, as Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue looks to blend pixel art characters with some impressive looking 3D environments. Not that you’ll have much time to spend looking at them; time is ticking away, remember?

Firegirl does afford you some downtime though back at the Firehouse. Here, you can rest, upgrade equipment, and even get to figuring out why so many fires are happening across the city. Coincidence? Firegirl doesn’t seem to think so!

If fighting fires and generally being a good egg sounds like your bag, then check out the Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue demo that is debuting on Steam right now as part of Steam’s Next Fest. From 1st October – 7th October you can get a sense of what Firegirl is all about.

For Xbox and other console owners, 14th December isn’t too far away. And we will have a review coming up where we put Firegirl through her paces. Let us know in the comments if you’ve ever wanted to be a firefighter!
