If you’re interested in hitting the courts and partaking in a bit of tennis, then virtually, you’re pretty limited. In fact, it wasn’t really until 2018 when the launch of Tennis World Tour and AO International Tennis rolled out, would you have had much of a chance to get kitted out. But very soon a new entry and additional opportunities will be coming the way to those who like a little hit, with the arrival of Tennis World Tour 2 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Announced as NACON and Big Ant Studios’ latest joint project, Tennis World Tour will be firing off the aces this Septemeber, as it launches on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, hoping to establish itself as the world’s premier tennis title.

Building on what was delivered first time around – and after AO International Tennis wiped the floor with it, it needs to – Tennis World Tour 2 will hope to have more success. After a first successful collaboration with Big Ant on AO Tennis 2, the partnership with a studio that specialises in sports simulations is continuing:

“Big Ant is a specialist in sport simulation and the studio shares our gaming vision for what we want to offer tennis fans with the Tennis World Tour franchise. We are delighted to be extending this partnership and to benefit from the expertise of these passionate and talented developers,” said Benoît Clerc, Head of Publishing at NACON.

Tennis World Tour 2 will let you experience a realistic tennis game that captures all the sport’s unique characteristics and competitiveness. By taking in and using feedback from a fan community comprising of 700000 odd gamers, many aspects of the game have been redesigned from the ground up. This means we’ll be witness to faster gameplay that puts players’ skills and nerves to the test, additional animations that have been added to improve the game’s realism and fluidity, and more.

You see, with Tennis World Tour 2 Big Ant Studios also wanted to offer more diverse content for this new game in the series by adding doubles tennis and a new competition that tennis players will be very familiar with: Tie Break Tens. This is a slightly different, much quicker form of tennis that consists of short matches where the winner is the first to reach 10 points, ideal for when you want to play intense matches and a quick series of games.

Tennis World Tour 2 promises the most comprehensive experience with the following features:

  • Highly anticipated new features: the ability to play doubles matches with up to 4 players locally and online, an improved serve system and a new shot timing mechanic
  • Multiple official stadiums, among them the Manuel Santana court in Madrid and the OWL Arena in Halle
  • One new competition format: Tie Break Tens
  • 38 tennis stars: the biggest names are all featured this year, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Ashleigh Barty
  • Multiple game modes: Career, Quick Match, Online, Tournament, Ranked Match and Tie Break Tens – there’s a format to suit every player

If you’re looking for more realistic gameplay and the chance to play as the biggest tennis stars in world-famous competitions, Tennis World Tour 2 is gearing up to be a simulation made to please both tennis fans and demanding gamers. We’ll be sure to let you know once that fully confirmed release date on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC is known. For now though, take in the first gameplay trailer below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
