As if the free-to-play title GWENT: The Witcher Card Game didn’t offer enough for players already, CD PROJEKT RED have now dealt us a card expansion in the form of Crimson Curse. So you can expect new cards aplenty to be a part of the game next time you load up GWENT on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The Crimson Curse expansion sees Dettlaff van der Eretein, the mighty vampire that gamers first met in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Blood and Wine DLC, summoning his kin for a bloody conflict. As the Moon over the Witcher world turns red, new breeds of monsters awake, new villains emerge, and new heroes rise to answer the call. This brings forth many new tools to wage war with as over 100 cards have been introduced – all of which come in a standard form and a premium animated variant – including five new leaders. You’ll be able to afflict the enemy with Poison and Bleeding, use Shield and Vitality in order to defend against incoming damage, and attempt to turn the tide of a battle using the Deathblow and Berserk mechanics.

As long as you download GWENT: The Witcher Card Game from the Xbox Store – or the respective digital store for your chosen platform – then the Crimson Curse expansion update should now be present. For anyone wishing they could play GWENT on the go, take note that a smartphone version is coming later this year for iPhone users, whilst those on Android devices will have to wait a little longer for details on a release.

Next time you fire up GWENT, have a gander at the new additions and let us know what you think of the Crimson Curse expansion. And if you’re yet to give it a go, there’s no better time than today… is there?
