Five Hearts Under One Roof – out now on Xbox

Even though they are picking up in frequency, romance games aren’t exactly common on Xbox, particularly those built entirely around live-action performances. That’s what makes Five Hearts Under One Roof a little different.

Having already found an audience on mobile and picked up Very Positive user reviews on Steam, the interactive FMV romance arrives today on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support.

Developed and published by StoryTaco, the game puts every relationship firmly in the player’s hands, with multiple branching storylines and endings depending on the choices you make along the way.

One House, Five Very Different Stories

You play as Yuman, a man who’s spent much of his life on his own. That quiet existence doesn’t last for long, as five women with very different personalities suddenly become part of his daily life.

From there, the story is shaped by your decisions. Conversations, seemingly small choices and the relationships you choose to develop all influence where the narrative heads, unlocking different scenes, romantic moments and endings.

Whether you’re hoping to rekindle an old flame or discover an unexpected connection, there’s no single path through the story.

Meet The Five Heroines

Each romance route centres around a different character, with their own backstory and personality.

There’s Mal-sook, Yuman’s childhood friend who has quietly stood by him for years, and Min-jung, his first love who returns after finding fame as an idol singer. Elsewhere, you’ll meet the confident and unpredictable Gran, your boss, the energetic Eun-bi, who has no intention of hiding her feelings, and the quiet, withdrawn Seung-yi, whose story gradually unfolds as you get to know her.

The result is five distinct storylines designed to encourage multiple playthroughs.

A Live-Action Story Where Choices Matter

Five Hearts Under One Roof presents its story entirely through live-action footage, placing players directly into Yuman’s perspective.

StoryTaco promises cinematic performances, branching narratives and a wealth of hidden scenes, bonus videos and alternative endings that reward returning to see how different decisions affect the outcome.

Given the game’s positive reception on Steam, it’ll be interesting to see whether Xbox players embrace this one in the same way.

Time To Decide Matters Of The Heart

Interactive storytelling has enjoyed something of a revival in recent years, and Five Hearts Under One Roof offers another take on the genre, this time focusing squarely on romance and player choice.

It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support via the Xbox Store.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
