Flow down the Loot River on Xbox, PC and Game Pass

-

loot river on game pass

Procedurally generated, Loot River is sold as a ‘Dark Souls crossed with Tetris’ affair; a game that will no doubt frustrate as much as it is able to immerse. With the power of Game Pass behind it though, you’ll at least get the opportunity to find out whether it’s one for you or not, without splashing out too much cash.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, or freely downloadable through Game Pass, Loot River from the straka.studio and SUPERHOT PRESENTS teams promises much. There’s that procedural nature for starters, then the temptation of Tetris and draw of Dark Souls builds things further. A rich combat system is in place too; something which you’ll need to harness should you wish to take down all manner of cursed foes.

The main thrust will be traversing the labyrinths of Loot River though, all as you make the most of a Relic which gives you the power to shift the ground you are standing on in order to slide elements together, transforming the world as you go. The puzzling take looks to be the real joy of Loot River, as you work through the endless catacombs, uncovering the secrets that they hold.

A whole wealth of weaponry, gear, spells and knowledge are ready for you to utilise, with Loot River flowing delicately onto Xbox, PC and Game Pass right now. You’ll be able to pick up the download you need (whether you pay the £19.99 asking price or Game Pass) from the Xbox Store

Stay tuned for our full review.

Game Description:

Transform the world Set in a series of procedurally generated labyrinths, Loot River is a dungeon crawling action roguelike that combines tense, real-time combat and dark fantasy settings with spatial block-shifting. Defeat bestial abominations Armed with the power of the Relic, players can shift the ground beneath them, sliding floating ruins together in a series of tile puzzles. As players venture through these endless catacombs, they’ll encounter beasts, lost travelers, and bosses. These cosmic grottos offer a wealth of new weapons and gear to discover, as well as unholy knowledge to unearth for permanent upgrades.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
