Fly among the stars with CyberHive on Xbox and PlayStation

-

cyberhive

We’re well into 2022 and whilst we thought the whole ‘cyber’ craze had died down a little after a couple of years front and centre, it seems as if we were wrong. You see, CyberHive is here and it’ll let Xbox and PlayStation gamers fly among the stars.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5, Cyberhive from the Samustai and Blazing Planet Studio teams will whisk you off to a future land – one in which you’ll be leave to survive by any means possible.

So far, so videogame trope, but CyberHive will task you with gathering resources, expanding the crew which you lead, and slowly make your way through outer space. Oh yeah, didn’t we say, you’re in command of a glorious starship too.

In fact, it’s the Melistar that you control, with a swaem uber-intelligent anthropomorphic bees in tow. It’s up to you to ensyure that they stay safe, utilising them to repel any and all attacks that may come your way. Do so and you’ll be able to pick up and make the most of a range of resources, effectiveliy keeping your Queen and solider bees alive.

Of course, it won’t be quite as simple as that, but with a deep story and narrative behind it, a host of foes to go up against and some weird mysteries taking hold, CyberHive is nothing but intriguing.

The key features include:

  • FLYING AMONG THE STARS – You are the commander of the “Melistar” (“The Star Bee”), and you have a swarm of intelligent anthropomorphic bees. Your ship is your home, and your mission is to keep an eye on its fighting ability to repel enemy attacks; to stay on course, and to effectively collect resources to ensure that both the Queen and soldier bees have enough food; and, of course, to keep an eye on the status of your crew, whose members strive to get into trouble or arrange it.
  • OTHER SPECIES – The ship travels through an amazing universe full of strange insectoid races. Who you’ll be forming an alliance with, and who you’ll be fighting with, is largely up to you! The Merchant Guild fights the League of Smugglers; the intelligent Ants compete with Locusts for space colonies; the sinister cult of Blood Suckers spreads across the galaxy… We’ll have to fight and trade – and every one of these decisions can be a turning point in the story.
  • SURVIVAL AND STORYTELLING – * You can try your hand at surviving. Space cycles alternate, resources run out – and the crew increases; but luck and accurate calculation are on your side! Competently upgrade your ship and set the right course – and you can stay alive for a certain amount of time, or maybe even break a record! * If you like branching plots and world exploration – boldly immerse yourself in the storyline. The CyberHive universe is a mysterious and deep setting. Collect ancient artifacts and pieces of knowledge on distant planets about the past – and discover how the world turned out to be and what misfortune it faces. Maybe you can avert it… or not.
  • MANY EVENTS – As you try to find resources and survive, you will experience many events on the ship: from intrigues within the crew and problems with passengers, to a large contraband “set-up” or a collision with the ghost of a legendary pirate starship. Some events form a story, and some occur randomly. But the choices within each event will also have to be considered…

We’ll be sure to let you know how it all plays out in our upcoming review of CyberHive on Xbox. For now though you’ll find the game from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5 players.

Game Description:

Survive, gather resources, expand your crew, improve your starship, and pave the way through outer space – full of hostile races. Your path will consist of difficult choices and everyone will have an influence on the outcome. …and perhaps you might be able to solve the mystery of this universe.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
