You’ll probably know publishers Wales Interactive from their previous ventures in the FMV genre, with the likes of The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker and The Shapeshifting Detective, but today it’s about the upcoming adventure/FMV hybrid, Headspun. To be precise, it’s the reveal of the official release date for its arrival on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, PC and Mac.
Developed by Superstring, Headspun is set to deliver a rich story to complement a 2D adventure that plays out in Cortex, which is the world of Theo Kavinsky’s broken brain. The staff within Cortex will be able to watch Theo’s life unfold from an eyeScreen that’s behind his eyes; this is where the live-action FMV sequences come in. Playing as Ted – essentially a rational personification of Theo’s character – you’ll make decisions on behalf of Theo in order to help the upkeep of the day-to-day cognitive operations. And so, the journey begins to rebuild Cortex and put Theo’s life back together.
Unfortunately, what Ted thinks is best for Theo, however, isn’t necessarily a view that’s shared by the primal, emotional representation of Theo’s psyche, Teddy. Headspun follows the relationship between Ted and Teddy; portraying an ongoing war between logic and emotion that sounds utterly fascinating.
Wales Interactive have announced that the adventure/FMV hybrid game, Headspun, is heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, PC and Mac on 28 August, 2019. Even better news is that once it goes up for pre-order on the respective digital stores – 14th August – there’ll be a special discounted price in place for those getting in early.
So, if you’re considering a purchase then that’d be the ideal time to pick it up, wouldn’t it? Let us know your thoughts about Headspun via the comments section below or on social media.
