Whenever we see a game being praised after launch on other formats, we tend to cast a slightly jealous eye. That was the case with The Wanderer: Frankenstein’s Creature, as we noticed it popping up on our radar after launch on Steam, critically acclaimed in the process. Now though that same game comes to Xbox and PlayStation, giving console gamers the chance to follow Dr. Frankenstein’s creation from the very beginning.

Available to download and play right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5 – as well as on PC and mobile where it’s been for a while – The Wanderer: Frankenstein’s Creature takes us through the usual fare but via a brand new perspective. You see, this is a game that deals with feelings and emotion, homing in on the creature itself and focusing on how it sees everyday life.

It’s priced at £12.49 from the Xbox Store and will see you the opportunity to travel the world, taking on the role of the creature as it experiences what plays out ahead of it. This isn’t the usual horror that is associated with Frankenstein tales, instead covering matters sensitively throughout.

With an artstyle that has been put together through 19th century painting inspiration, 4K visuals in tow and a soundtrack that is utterly stunning, should you be in the market for a new take on the age-old narrative, it should be well worth your time checking out what The Wanderer: Frankenstein’s Creature has to offer Xbox and PlayStation folk.

The key features of the game that you need to concern yourself with include:

  • Delve into the Frankenstein myth through a new perspective focused on the creature’s experience and feelings, approached with a sensitivity never before seen in a video game.
  • Enjoy this moving story in all its possible variations, with five different endings.
  • Stroll through idyllic, colorful landscapes inspired by 19th century painting, now remastered in 4K for PlayStation and Xbox!
  • Observe how the landscapes you pass through “react” to the mood of the creature. Have you ever felt that the sky seemed grayer on a gloomy day?
  • Let yourself go by the unique atmosphere provided by a soundtrack that conveys the essence of this heart-feeling story.
  • Play smoothly and flowingly thanks to the new control scheme fully adapted to PlayStation and Xbox controllers.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
