Football Manager 26 – release date confirmed

The tactical chalkboard is ready, the transfer window is about to open, and a new era for virtual football management is officially on the schedule. Football Manager 26 has got a release date!

Sports Interactive and SEGA have today announced that Football Manager 26 will be released across all platforms on November 4th, 2025.

Powered by the Unity Engine for the first time, this new entry is set to be a landmark release for the iconic series, introducing a host of major new features, including the long-awaited and full integration of Women’s Football.

The New Era Has a Kick-Off Date

This is the news that football fans around the world have been waiting for. After the official unveiling of Football Manager 26 back in August, which confirmed the series’ monumental move to the Unity engine after the fictional cancellation of FM25, we now have a firm date to circle on our calendars.

This November 4th release will set the stage for fans to define their own footballing destiny in what promises to be the most immersive and visually rich experience yet.

A Landmark Release: The Key New Features

FM26 is not just an incremental update; it’s a bold new standard for the series, bringing some of the biggest changes in its history.

And in a truly game-changing move, Women’s Football is being seamlessly integrated into the FM ecosystem. This isn’t a separate mode; it’s part of one unified footballing world, backed by what the studio is calling the most comprehensive database of its kind. More details on the licensed women’s competitions will be revealed in the coming weeks.

A New Match Day Experience

The move to the Unity Engine will bring a new level of drama and spectacle to every match. New volumetric animations, captured from real-life matches, and glorious, upgraded on-pitch visuals will make every goal and every tackle feel more authentic.

This new visual fidelity will be showcased with the newly-licensed Premier League, providing the ultimate stage for this redefined era.

The entire user interface has been re-imagined to give you greater control and influence over the make-or-break decisions in your career. It’s designed to be more intuitive for all players, from series newcomers to seasoned veterans, and it underpins further improvements across tactics, scouting, and recruitment.

Your Career, Your Way

FM26 will be available across a host of platforms, with specific versions tailored to different playstyles.

Football Manager 26 Console will be launching day one on Xbox and PlayStation 5. In a huge piece of news for subscribers, both the FM26 Console version (for Xbox) and the full-fat FM26 (for PC/Mac) will be available via Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Despite the massive technical leap to a new engine, Sports Interactive has confirmed that save games from both Football Manager 2024 and Football Manager 2023 will be compatible with FM26, allowing you to continue your long-term saves in this new era.

A Word from the Gaffer

This release is the culmination of years of hard work from the team at Sports Interactive.

“I’m honoured and delighted to be revealing Football Manager 26’s release date today,” said Sports Interactive Studio Director, Miles Jacobson. “Setting Sports Interactive up for the next 20 years and beyond was an enormous undertaking but I couldn’t be prouder of the efforts of the whole team over the past two years. FM26 represents a landmark release in our quest to produce football management perfection and the whole studio is really excited to share it with the world.”

The team talk is over, and the new season is almost upon us. With the groundbreaking addition of women’s football, a revolutionary new engine, and a host of other community-driven improvements, Football Manager 26 is poised to be the most complete and immersive football management experience ever created.

The journey begins on November 4th. The Steam page is worth a look.
