Forensics Crime Scene Detective – out today!

Crime dramas have taught us to expect dramatic interrogations, high-speed chases and last-minute confessions. Forensics: Crime Scene Detective takes the opposite approach. Here, there are no shootouts or Hollywood heroics – just patience, observation and the painstaking science of uncovering what really happened.

Launching today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, this forensic investigation sim aims to deliver one of the most authentic crime-solving experiences we’ve seen on console.

Every Crime Scene Has A Story To Tell

Rather than putting players behind a badge or giving them a gun, Forensics: Crime Scene Detective casts you as the forensic specialist working behind the scenes.

Once the emergency services have left and the crime scene has been secured, your job begins. Apartments, bars, basements and other locations all become carefully constructed puzzles where every fingerprint, blood spatter and discarded object could hold the answer.

Using authentic investigative equipment, you’ll dust for fingerprints, collect DNA samples, analyse blood patterns, recover digital evidence from mobile phones and examine ballistic trajectories before piecing everything together back in the laboratory.

The goal isn’t simply to identify a suspect – it’s to establish exactly what happened using evidence alone.

Built With Real Investigators

One of the game’s biggest selling points is its commitment to authenticity. Developer Binary Impact worked closely alongside experts from Germany’s State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP), using their experience and investigative procedures to shape both the tools and the cases you’ll encounter.

Rather than relying on scripted detective clichĂ©s, each investigation focuses on logic, observation and scientific reasoning. Miss an important clue and you could fail to solve the case – or worse, accuse the wrong person.

Key Features

  • Investigate realistic crime scenes using authentic forensic techniques
  • Collect fingerprints, DNA, blood evidence and digital data
  • Analyse evidence in dedicated laboratory sequences
  • Cases inspired by real-world investigations and professional methodologies
  • Determine whether incidents were murder, accidents, self-defence or carefully staged crimes
  • Every piece of evidence matters, with overlooked clues potentially changing the outcome

A Different Kind Of Detective Game

There’s no shortage of detective titles on Xbox, but Forensics: Crime Scene Detective is carving out its own niche.

Instead of solving puzzles through intuition or dialogue trees, success comes from paying attention to the smallest details and following evidence wherever it leads. It feels much closer to the methodical work seen in real forensic laboratories than the fast-paced investigations usually found in games.

If you’ve ever watched a crime drama and found yourself more interested in the technicians quietly piecing together the facts than the detectives chasing suspects, this could be one worth keeping an eye on.

Ready To Follow The Evidence?

Forensics: Crime Scene Detective launches today on Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store), PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam), with a physical PlayStation 5 edition also planned.

If you’ve got the patience to examine every clue and the eye to spot what everyone else has missed, it’s time to see whether you can uncover the truth.
