Railways Empire 2 – Industrial Wonders

The clang of steel, the hiss of steam, and the relentless ambition of an era that reshaped the world – this is the powerful heart of the latest expansion for Railway Empire 2.

Gaming Minds Studios and Kalypso Media have released Industrial Wonders, a major new DLC that challenges players to fuel some of history’s most iconic construction projects.

Available now for £8.99 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 & 5, this expansion takes you on a globe-trotting journey to the epicentre of the Industrial Revolution.

Industrial Wonders – Key Features

The Industrial Wonders pack is loaded with new content to enhance your railway empire. Here are the key features at a glance:

  • Three New Scenarios: Take on monumental, fully voiced construction projects like the Eiffel Tower and Hoover Dam across three distinct historical periods.
  • Three New Maps: Explore high-resolution maps of Germany’s Ruhr Area, France’s Île-de-France, and the USA’s Lower Colorado Basin.
  • More Complex Production System: Establish your own production sites and manage a greater variety of factory inputs and outputs for a deeper strategic challenge.
  • Three Powerful Locomotives: Command new authentic engines designed for heavy-duty hauling, including the legendary “Big Boy”.
  • New Themed Music: Enjoy over 15 new music tracks inspired by the industrial age.

Constructing History: Three Monumental Scenarios

Industrial Wonders is built around three comprehensive scenarios, each focusing on a monumental engineering feat. Your railway company will be at the centre of these transformative projects, tasked with building the complex supply chains necessary to make them a reality.

  • Industrial Miracle (Ruhr Valley, 1869) – Journey to Germany’s industrial powerhouse, weaving a vast, interconnected web of railroads between coal mines and steelworks to fuel an unprecedented wave of productivity.
  • La Dame de Fer (Île-de-France, 1880) – Paris is preparing for the 1889 World’s Fair, and your task is to establish the efficient rail connections needed to deliver the immense quantities of materials required to construct its crowning achievement: the legendary Eiffel Tower.
  • Concrete Giant (Lower Colorado Basin, 1910) – Travel to the United States to take part in one of the most daring construction projects of the 20th century. Utilise daring new techniques to supply the colossal concrete feat that is the Hoover Dam as it rises from the canyons.

All Aboard for More

Railway Empire 2 has continued to expand since it first invited entrepreneurs to climb aboard back in 2023. This latest expansion adds more of the historical flavour and deep strategic gameplay that fans of the series appreciate, challenging them with some of the most ambitious projects of the age.

From the coal-dusted valleys of Germany to the Parisian skyline and the vast American desert, Industrial Wonders challenges you to be more than a railway magnate – it asks you to be a titan of industry. The age of steam and steel is calling; it’s time to answer.

You’ll find the new Industrial Wonders DLC on the usual stores. The Xbox Store is our favourite, but you do you. Just ensure you have the base game.

DLC Description

Plunge into the pounding heart of the Industrial Revolution in Railway Empire 2 – Industrial Wonders. Spearheaded by the steam locomotive, this era unleashed a wave of productivity and innovation, enabling complex supply chains and monumental construction projects that had previously been unimaginable. In Germany, the Ruhr Valley emerged as the powerhouse of industrialisation, where coal mines, steelworks, and railroads formed a vast, interconnected web of progress. Meanwhile, France prepared to crown the 1889 World’s Fair with the Eiffel Tower – a striking symbol of modern engineering. And in 1931, the United States began work on the Hoover Dam, a colossal concrete feat built with daring new techniques.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
