Starlight Legacy – forge your own path

Return to the golden era of 16-bit role-playing with a modern twist in Starlight Legacy!

Starlight Legacy, a non-linear adventure inspired by JRPG classics, has launched.

Developed by Decafesoft and published by Eastasiasoft, this sprawling quest is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Expect a price point of ÂŁ10.74 to sort you out.

Set in the post-medieval Evaria Kingdom, Starlight Legacy invites you to explore a vast world created with lush 2D pixel art, engage in nostalgic turn-based battles, and forge your own path through a non-linear story.

A Kingdom in Peril, An Ancient Tree Withered

For decades, the four provinces of the Evaria Kingdom have thrived in peace and prosperity, all thanks to the life-giving Eternity Tree that enriches and purifies the land, water, and air. However, a controversial ban on the education of magic has sown seeds of unrest, leading to the rise of a separatist movement aiming to liberate the Sky Province from Evaria’s rule.

Amidst this turmoil, warriors Ignus and Teryl embark on a seemingly simple quest to deliver a sword requested by the king.

But shortly after their journey begins, a devastating attack causes the sacred Eternity Tree to wither, plunging the kingdom into further chaos. Now, Ignus and Teryl face the monumental task of restoring the Eternity Tree to save their world.

Classic JRPG Freedom Reimagined

Starlight Legacy offers a classic JRPG experience with some modern advancements designed for player freedom:

  • Explore Evaria Your Way: The four provinces of the kingdom can be explored in any order you choose. Travel between towns, treacherous dungeons, and sprawling field environments seamlessly, with no load times. When navigating the overworld map, you can even take to the skies in 3D flight sequences for quick traversal!
  • Scaled Challenges & Turn-Based Combat: Don’t worry about wandering into an area you’re not ready for. Enemies and bosses throughout the world will scale according to your overall progress, ensuring a consistent challenge. Combat itself is a classic menu-driven, turn-based affair, inspired by genre greats.
  • Relics & Restoration: Your ultimate goal is to find powerful relics hidden throughout Evaria to restore the withered Eternity Tree.

Retro Aesthetics, Modern Flair

The game proudly wears its 16-bit inspirations on its sleeve, featuring lush 2D pixel art that evokes the golden age of JRPGs. However, it also mixes these old-school aesthetics with modern advancements to create a smooth and engaging experience.

Key Features

  • Non-Linear 16-Bit JRPG: Explore four vast provinces in any order you choose.
