Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges Guide Series 20 – Spring

-

Now that Spring has sprung in Series 20 of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, the series of High Performance in Forza Horizon 5 is about to draw to a close. Hopefully, we should have some fun times ahead of us in the Hot Season in Mexico.

Well, if there are new events to try out, my hope is that you are going to need some new tunes and car suggestions to make the most of this last hoorah, so without further ado, let’s have a look at what is in store for this week, shall we?

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Brawn and Beauty

The subject of this week’s car challenge is a well named one, the Ferrari 812 Superfast. I mean, you have to be pretty confident in your car’s abilities to give it a name like that, don’t you?

At the time of launch, in 2017, this had apparently got the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated engine under the bonnet, and so it should be a bit of a handful.

Should you not have a Superfast in your garage, they are available from the Autoshow for a mere 350,000  credits. They look very good in the classic Ferrari red.

Chapter 1 – Lap of Luxury

Get in your new car and take it for a spin, and relax into what is supposed to be a GT car.

Chapter 2 – All Natural

To celebrate that engine, we have to maintain a speed of 175mph for 15 seconds. On the highway this is a breeze, and I have tuned mine up a tad to make it easier, the share code is : 261040765.

Chapter 3 – Fly High, Ferrari

As the car has active aero built in, we need to earn five Ultimate Air skills by jumping off stuff. Dunas Blancas is a good area for this, but how many Superfast owners in the real world do you think go out and fling their Ferrari off a mountain?

Chapter 4 – Tourism Extraordinaire

Now we need to take the car for a jaunt across the country, to celebrate the GT roots. A journey down the highway of five miles will see this step complete.

And with that, the weekly challenge is complete and we are five points closer to the final reward cars of Series 20.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

As I mentioned above, Spring has sprung, and so new events appear. Let’s hope there will be more racing and fewer Eventlabs this week, eh?

On the menu this week are…

The Trial – T-Red-ing the Line

Ah, the Trial, the weekly excuse for a dreadful pun and an invitation to find people on the internet who understand the meaning of working as a team. And they are  scarcer than you might think!

Anyway, the theme this week is cars from the 2000’s, with a tuning limit of A Class 800. I went with a BMW M3 GTR, as used last week, and the share code is still : 198385025.

For winning two out of three races, we can walk away with a Ferrari 458, which is pretty nice.

Eventlab 1 – GT Deny Presents Canyonball Raceway

As usual, this is another S2 Class 998 event, anything goes, so I went with the first car alphabetically to meet the criteria, an Apollo Intensa Emozione from 2018. I kept it stock as there isn’t any competition playing solo!

This is a dreadful track, with weird undulations that make it impossible to settle the car. Do not recommend.

The prize for zooming around? A Super Wheelspin.

Eventlab 2  – Joh Cee Presents Origami Park

Another chance to use the same car as above, and again, no point tuning in a one horse race!

5 laps of this course is definitely cruel and unusual punishment. Top tip – slow right down for the last corner, as you can slide wide and end up stuck between the track and the wall.

At least we get a VW Scirocco for our trouble.

PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Heights of Mulege

Step forward the BMW X5M Forza Edition, with share code: 519084427.

This is one of my least favourite Danger Signs in the game. Weird thing to dislike, I know, but there you go. Zoom up to the ramp, clear over 300m to take home the prize.

A Super wheelspin will be yours if you drive fast enough. And stick the landing of course…

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – River Run

Another tricky Speed Zone is this one, with no rivers popping up and slowing you down, strangely. Maybe it’s global warming?

With only one car in my garage currently built for the combination of off road and S2 Class 998, I chose the same car as the previous PR Stunt, the BMW X5M FE. There are some tricky bends here, but approaching from the north made it a little easier. We need to average more than 115 mph to win.

Should you manage it, another Super Wheelspin will be winging its way towards you.

PR Stunt 3 – Speed Trap – Pantano Pass

Much like last week, do this one in the Koenigsegg I always recommend – it comes with a share code of: 109282883. You just need to hit above 180 mph to win and it feels like approaching from the East makes this a tad easier.

Another Super wheelspin will be yours for winning.

Seasonal Championship 1 – Alacrit-Rally

Good grief, the puns just keep on coming this week!

We need, as you may have surmised from the title, a Classic Rally car for this event, and the tuning ceiling is C Class 600. From a not enormous choice, I went with a Mini Cooper S from 1965, figuring that if it was good enough for Paddy Hopkirk, it’s good enough for me!

The share code is : 176823547.

For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Honda NSX-R. Nice.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Easy Deutsch It

No prizes for guessing which country’s cars we need to use this time. Yes, we need a German car, and it needs to be B Class 700, and so I went with a classic – a BMW M5 from 1988, and the share code is : 706895453.

My very first car was this shape of BMW 5 Series, fact fans, but it was only a 520i, and it went to automotive heaven one day when the rev limiter – for some reason –  didn’t limit, and the engine blew itself to pieces.

For fulfilling the same criteria as before, we will this time win a HSV Maloo. Not a car known for being German…

Horizon Tour Co-op championship

Making a welcome return, the Tour is back this week, but sadly the reward is purely points towards the weekly total, which is a bit sad.

You know the score by now – three races against driverbots and two point to point races between them to give a chance to show off. No tunes for this, as it could be any discipline or class, but dive in and enjoy yourself.

Oh, and enjoy the three measly points towards the total.

Part 3: Other Challenges

Series 20 Spring adds in a Photo Challenge and a Treasure Hunt. We like Photo Challenges and Treasure Hunts. Oh, and the Eliminator returns, but I’m less keen on that.

Photo Challenge – #LamboNo5

This week, the challenge is to take a Lamborghini, any Lamborghini, to El Arco de Cabo San Lucas and take a photo. Again, this isn’t highlighted on the map, so it may take a bit of finding.

I’ll post the location and my artistic effort below for your admiration/ridicule.

The reward? Pinata Pop car horn. I can hardly wait.

Treasure Hunt – Old is Gold

The clue this week reads “Solidify the retro reputation by speedily earning gold”.

A retro car, seems to be hinted at, but which type of retro car? Well, by a process of elimination, it turns out that it is Retro Super Cars we need, and we need to score 3 stars at speed traps.

Luckily, this is not all in one go, so pick your favourite and let rip! I used a Bugatti EB110.

The location of the treasure chest is shown below, and it has 100FP in it.

The Eliminator

The challenge this time is to survive into the top 30 of the competitors, and this is usually pretty easy, assuming you stay out of trouble.

There is no shame in hiding in a bush on a mountain to stay safe, and even if you do manage to get a decent car, it can only take one inconvenient tree to ruin your chances. It is not for nothing that this is my only achievement from the base game I haven’t got…

Still, keep yourself alive and the prize is a Dodge Viper from 2008.

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Nexus View

Can you blaze this camera at over 220 mph? Well, if any car can do it, it’s that old faithful, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, and my share code is: 109282883.

A Super wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Audi, Partner

As you may have guessed, we need to take an Audi, to a maximum of A Class 800, and try to win some races. Thinking that speed would be my friend, I went with a TTS Coupe from 2015, and the share code is : 831803008.

The prize? A Mercedes Benz C63. Not an Audi, but still…

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Reservoir View

Can we maintain a speed of over 95 mph through this zone? Well, given that the surface is tarmac, you’d think it would be pretty easy, no? Well, the corners on this course beg to differ!

I used the Koenigsegg as above to do it, but go steady.

A Super Wheelspin is the prize.

Seasonal Championship – Flex on the Road

Modern Muscle cars are required here, but only to  a maximum of A Class 800. I went with the trusty Shelby GT500, from 2013 and the share code for mine is : 402868577.

It’s not the fastest car in the world, but it certainly grips and goes.

For winning, whether solo or in a convoy, we will get a German engineering hoodie. Awesome.

With Series 20 into the final throes, you should have plenty of reward points in the bank and that means you get access to reward cars. You can also tick off the Monthly Rivals events if you need help, so if you haven’t gone clean around Dunas Blancas Sprint and the Chihuahua Circuit then get that fixed up pronto.

Grab enough points and Winter also brings new prizes, with this week’s cars being the Porsche Mission R for 20 points and the Jaguar XKR-S from 2015 for 40 points.

There are some monthly cars too – the Ferrari 599XX is yours for 80 points, with the McLaren F1 sitting behind 160. You should have these in the bag by now – at least if you’ve been following our Series 20 guide.

Next up is Series 21 and while details are still pretty much under wraps at the moment, the title of the series is “Explore the Horizon”, and it promises a photo mode update and new cars, amongst other goodies. But let’s finish Series 20 strong first, shall we?

To enjoy what is on offer in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

As always, the comments section is below. We’d love to know if these cars and tunes have helped you out.
