As Winter hits Mexico, Series 39 of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges in Forza Horizon 5 continues with a whole list of things we’ve come to expect from the many Series we have already completed.
And as always, I’ll be here to guide you through the usual tunes and cars you’ll need in order to complete the latest – and I might even chuck in a little tip or two about how best to fulfil the tasks.
So, without further ado, grab your scarf and gloves and chuck them in the closet – it’s dry season in Mexico.

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Civic Duty
The subject of this new week’s challenge is a Honda Civic, as you may have guessed from the subtle pun. This was the first Civic to get the “Type R” treatment, and was a darling of Max Power for longer than I care to remember.
Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 25,000 of your credits.
Chapter 1 – EK9
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete. I’ve made an A Class tune, called “EK9” with my GT Red620Ti if you need a bit more speed in your life.
Chapter 2 – Racing Spec
As the car was built to a lightweight spec, we have to win a Road Circuit race. Pick your fave! I used the Horizon Oval.
Chapter 3 – You’re a NAtural!
Earn a Hard Charger skill now. Basically, start at rest and pin the throttle!
This is due to the Civic getting 182 BHP out of an NA engine, which isn’t bad going. I had to upgrade even more for this, so look for share name “EK9S1” with my GT, Red620Ti.
Chapter 4 – Championship White
Now simply take a photo of your steed.
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 39.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
The Trial, Eventlabs, a few PR Stunts, some races – that’s what you are getting with Series 39 Winter. Hope you like 90’s cars!
The Trial – Only Bulls and Horses
This week the theme is 1990’s Ferrari vs Lamborghini, and it is a stock F50 I went for, as it handles quite well..
Let’s hope the racing gods smile down on us this week, as we attempt to win a Ferrari F50 GT.
Eventlab 1 – JOH CEE Presents JCO Project Race3 Airport.
Retro Muscle cars tuned to B Class 700 is the theme here, and I chose a left field entry this week, a Holden Torana A9X. Share name is “A9X” with my GT, Red620Ti.
A good layout made fun by the slidy muscle cars, this is a good one and well up to Joh Cee’s usual standard.
A Super Wheelspin is the prize. Again.
Eventlab 2 – DEXTER4130D Presents Cathedral GP
We need a B Class 700 Hot hatch for this event, so I chose a stock Volkswagen Scirocco from 2011, mainly because it looks nice!
A very long lap, but a well thought out one. Not even the tunnels made me hate it!
We can win a Banjo Kazooie Spiral Mountain Part 2 Horn for winning here.
Eventlab 3 – HONZ12 Presents Caidron Rally Circuit
Modern Rally and Rally Monsters to a limit of S1 Class 900 means that it is time for the Hoonigan Escort RS1800, share code : 264985022.
Any Eventlab that lets me use that course is off to a good start, but this track was fast and fun. Very enjoyable.
We can win a Nissan RR #23 for triumphing here.
PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Baja Showjump
This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, a B Class 700 Japanese car from the 90s. It’s going to be a Nissan or a Subaru, isn’t it? I went with a 22B, share code : 164422572.
Get over 175m in the air to win. You’ll want to hit the ramp at over 120mph to nail the target and this is quite tough, mainly due to the fence blocking the ramp that slows you down.
If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Dustbowl
We need to hit over 120mph for this challenge. Off road!
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Speed Zone – Desierto Vivende
For this event, an average speed of 88 mph through the off road track is needed. Easy enough for the Scooby.
Another Super Wheelspin?
Seasonal Championship 1 – 90’s Icons – Jaguar XJ220
Jaguar and B Class 700 are the criteria for this championship, and so I chose a stock F-Pace S, as it is AWD out of the box.
For winning out, we can take home a Jaguar XJ220, surprisingly!
Seasonal Championship 2 – Fur by Four
We need a Pickup or 4X4 tuned to B Class 700. I went with the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and the share code is : 331469650.
For winning, it is a Hoonigan Group A Escort we can slot into the garage.
Part 3: Other Challenges
Loads to do this week – Just look at the list!
Photo Challenge – #PAWSFORAPICTURE
This week we are back to taking pictures of cars, with the Jaguar XJ220 being the subject. Which is handy, as we’ll need it in a bit.
Win the 90’s Icon Seasonal Championship to get your hot little hands on one for free.
Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece.
The reward? A new horn – Cat meow.
Horizon Open – Multi Pass!
Simply get five pass skills in Horizon Open racing to win this time. I can’t recommend a tune, as it could be any class, but get out there and overtake people.
We can win a new Forzalink phrase, “Special Delivery!”. Handy if you are Postman Pat, I guess…
Hide and Seek
As has been the case for the last few weeks, it’s time to play the much hyped new game mode, Hide & Seek. No pointers here, mainly because it is super simple. It is a lot easier to be a Hider than a Seeker…
Take home a Super Wheelspin, to add to the collection.
Collectibles – Video Hits
Smash 10 inflatable VHS’s at the Street Scene outpost. For the younger readers, VHS was like a DVD, but worse in every single way. I’ll show you what they look like and where they are below.
We can win, appropriately enough, a “Tape Rewind” horn for our trouble.

Playground Games – Get Your Game On, Go Play!
Hey now, you’re a rockstar…And so on!
We have to play a game now, or several games, depending how good your team is! We also need to use a Hoonigan car tuned to S1 Class 900, and the Hoonigan Escort RS1800 is my pick, share code : 264985022. I love this thing.
We can take away a BMW M3 from ‘91, win or lose, so not too shabby.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Hammers Shadow
The vehicles for the PR Stunts in both the Hot Wheels events and Rally Adventure events need to be the same – an A Class 800 British car from the 90s.
For this one I went with a Jag XJ220, as you may have expected, and the share code is : 123500759.
Blaze the trap over 170mph to win out – approaching from the north seems easiest.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Everlong
We need an Extreme Track Toy from the 90s, tuned to S2 Class 998.
Slim pickings? You’re dead right but I picked the AMG CLK GTR Forza Edition, and the share code is : 959925821.
The reward for racing? A Nissan GT-R LM from 1995.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Tierras Verdes
Again, an A Class 800 British car from the 90s has to come to the fore, and so it’s that Jag again.
We need to score over 85,000 points to win out, which is pretty easy, even in an AWD Jag!
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – Room for Desert?
Ladies and gentlemen, the pun writers are back.
1990’s Rally cars tuned to B Class 700 is the theme.. Sounds like a job for the ultimate Impreza, the 22B! Share code for mine is : 164422572.
Completing the championship will get us a Land Rover Defender.
The rewards for Series 39 and Winter in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 39 moving along nicely, we have some new cars to work toward: the Mercedes Benz 500E for 80 points and a GMC Typhoon for 160 points. No exclusive cars this time, sadly. But complete the challenges and the first should be in your grasp this week.
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 39 – Chihuahua Circuit and Emerald Circuit. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.
Grab enough points and Series 39 Winter also sees you given access to the exclusive Aston Martin Lagonda for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!
Back to the 90’s will conclude next week… Are we ready for whatever comes next? Stay tuned and find out!…
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
