It’s time to head into one of the biggest Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges series that has dawned in Forza Horizon 5 this week, as it is the third anniversary of the game’s launch.
It’s hard to believe it has been three years since we first started driving around Mexico, but that allows for the team behind it to go to town with Series 40 – Horizon Track Day. We kick off with Summer and a focus on Porsche.
So join me as we take a look at the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 40 Summer, ticking off objectives and picking up new cars in the process.
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Sports Car Supreme
The subject of Series 40 Summer’s weekly car challenge is a proper hairdressers car, the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Just remember, if you are going to tune it, take the curling irons out of the boot for an instant performance gain…
Still, as it is the best selling sports car of all time, it must be doing something right! Oh, and we need the 1994 model for this challenge.
Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 25,000 of your credits.
Chapter 1 – One Car, Three Names
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete. For a little more spice, try share code: 666061914.
Chapter 2 – MX-5 Cup
Upgrade to A Class, and then win a Road Race. Good job I gave that tune above, eh? I used the Horizon Oval to do this.
Chapter 3 – Freshen Up
Paint the body of your Mx-5. Pink maybe?
Chapter 4 – Suited and Booted
Finally, take a photo of your new creation.
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 40.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
The Trial, an Eventlab, a few PR Stunts, some races…
The Trial – Auto Born
This week the theme is German Modern Supercars cars, and only tuned to S1 Class 900, I went with an Audi R8, as that’s what I think of as a German supercar!
I used the R8 V10 plus from 2016 and the share code is :191248189.
We smashed it last week, so let’s hope that the trend continues, as we attempt to win a McLaren 650S.
Eventlab 1 – 2FORZARUPERT Presents Forza Warthog Rally
Can you guess which car we need to use? Yes, the Warthog and the share code for mine is : 980774271.
A challenging track that is about 50/50 on and off road, it is a nice romp through the countryside. Plenty of the new Halo props to be seen too!
A car horn is the prize, the Halo Theme Part 2.
PR Stunt 1 – Speed Zone – Rocky Hills
This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, an A Class 800 Audi TT. It’s going to be a TTS from 2015, and the share code is : 831803008.
Average through the zone at over 65 mph to win.
If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.
PR Stunt 2 – Drift Zone – Otro Mundo
Same car again, I fancy. We need to score over 80,000 drift points for this challenge. The surface being dirt made this simple.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Trailblazer – Canyon Run
For this event, we need to finish the off road track with over 16 seconds on the clock. Same car works great. This is a tad trickier, with the tunnel section being key.
Not another Super Wheelspin?
Seasonal Championship 1 – Cutting Corners
Japanese Modern Sports cars and B Class 700 are the criteria for this championship, and so I chose a Subaru BRZ, and the share code is : 139235813.
For winning out, we can take home a Honda NSX-R.
Seasonal Championship 2 – Pisa Cake
Oh my, that is a bad pun. You see, we need an Italian Modern Supercar to take part, so Pisa? Like the Tower? Sigh.
It has to be a Lamborghini for me, as I like the silliness compared to the straight laced Ferraris, and so I went with the Aventador LP700-4, share code : 362867196.
For winning, it is a Lambo Huracan we can slot into the garage.
Part 3: Other Challenges
Very slim pickings this week, but at least they are easy!
Photo Challenge – #THE.BIG.H
We need to photograph any German car on a Horizon “H” decal at the Oval Track in the Stadium. Sounds pretty easy, no?
Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece. The location? Below.
The reward? A new bit of headgear, a Germany cap.
Horizon Tour – Co-op Racing
Go and take part in a Horizon Tour to win – three races against driverbots, and two head to head races for the human players. All jolly good fun, but I can’t give you a tune for this, as it could be any class.
We can win a massive 8 points towards the prizes for our trouble.
Seasonal Playground Games – 4 By Forerunner
Do you want to play a game? A game where you need to drive a Warthog? Well, that’s lucky, as that is what is on offer here.
Team King is the game, and win or lose, you’ll take home a Grunt Birthday Party car horn. Not sure I want to know…
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Turbo Knot
The vehicles for the PR Stunts in the Hot Wheels events are S2 Class 998 Extreme Track Toys, which means sliding is going to be fun!
I chose a Bugatti Divo, share code : 169915677.
Score more than 150,000 drift points to win big.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward. Big, see?
Seasonal Championship -Best of British
We need a British Modern Supercar, tuned to S1 Class 900 for this set of races. It’s going to be a McLaren, isn’t it?
I went with a 570S Coupe, and the share code is : 179226463.
The reward for racing? A McLaren 720S Spider.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Tierres Verdes
An A Class 800 Porsche is required for this test, and while the majority of the arse engined 911’s will slide at the drop of a hat, I chose a stock Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S.
We need to score over 90,000 drift points. Drifting in silence is weird, but doable.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – Porsching your Luck
All about those puns this week!
For this event, a Porsche, any Porsche tuned to A Class 800 is needed, and so I stuck with the same car as in the step before. Why mend it if it isn’t broken?
Completing the championship will get us a McLaren 570S.
The rewards for Series 40 and Summer in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 40 just beginning, the reward cars are out of reach, but when you do finally have enough points, it’ll be the Porsche #92n RSR for 80 points and a Lotus 2-Eleven for 160 points that are up for grabs.
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 40 – Baja California Trail and Horizon Mexico Circuit. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.
Grab enough points and Series 40 Summer also sees you given access to the exclusive Porsche 911 GT3 RS from 2023 for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!
So, the new Series has kicked off, what do we think of it so far? Are you excited to get four Porsches this month?
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
I always look forward to your article, It’s great getting a rundown of what to expect on the playlist. Keep up the great work.
