Winter has certainly arrived in the UK this week, with snow on the ground. But in Forza Horizon 5, it is the dry season, as we come to Series 40 Winter of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges. That means a new list of tasks has appeared.

Stick with us as we guide you through what you need to do, as well as the cars and tunes you’ll need to help you do it.

Let’s go! Do you want to build a snowman?

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Lightweight Experts

The subject of Series 40 Winter’s car challenge is a Lotus, the Exige S from 2012. For when a regular Exige just isn’t light enough, I guess!

It’s faster to accelerate and faster full stop than the base model, so this is the one to have.

Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 85,000 of your credits. Bargain!

Chapter 1 – For the Drivers

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.

For a little more pace, look for my share name “Exige” with my GT, Red620Ti.

Chapter 2 -Lotus Champion

Now, simply win a road race. What could be easier? The tune above should make this a breeze. As usual, I used the Stadium Oval track.

Chapter 3 – Full Speed Ahead

Get 6 speed skills now. Hit the highway and pin the throttle!

Chapter 4 – Limitless

Simply win 6 stars at speed traps to celebrate Colin Chapman’s famous saying “Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere”.

Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 40.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.

The Trial, two Eventlab, a few PR Stunts, some races…

The Trial – One for the Road

This week the theme is S1 900 Super GT cars. Ferrari 812 Superfast, anyone? Share code for mine is : 261040765.

We smashed it last week, so let’s hope that the trend continues, as we attempt to win a Porsche Carrera

Eventlab 1 – DARNYFLARSHNIFT Presents Woodsman’s Wonderland

We need a B Class 700 Retro Rally car for this event, and I chose a stock Lancia Delta S4, as it isn’t far off the limit.

An odd gimmick, a wooden track, but it works pretty well and it is clear a lot of work went into the creation.

A car is the prize, a Porsche 718 GTS. I think they should give more Porsches as prizes, what do you think?

Eventlab 2 – JOH CEE Presents Johonua

We need a Modern Sports Car, tuned to S1 Class 900 for this, so I used a Toyota GR Supra, share name “GRS1” with my GT, Red620Ti.

You know how you can sometimes push the track limits in these Eventlabs? Yeah, not this one. Stick to the road!

Prize for completing this is a Super Wheelspin. Yes, another.

PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – Mudflows

This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, a B Class 700 SUV Hero. I used a stock Maserati Levante to do all of these.

Hit the trap at over 110 mph to win this one. Approaching from the south made it easy.

If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Paso Inferior

Same car again, I fancy. We need to hit the trap at over 85 mph. An approach from the north was easy enough.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

PR Stunt 3 – Trailblazer – La Marisma

Get to the end of this very long trailblazer with more than 12 seconds on the clock to complete this challenge.

Not another Super Wheelspin?

Seasonal Championship 1 – Pickup the Pace

Pickups and 4X4’s, C Class 600 are the limitations, and so I used a Ford Raptor from 2011, share code : 139383916.

For winning out, we can take home a Mercedes G Wagen!

Seasonal Championship 2 – Beaming

A Class 800, AWD BMW’s are needed here, and luckily every car I tune is usually AWD, so I chose an M3 GTR from 2002, and the share code is : 198385025.

For winning, it is a BMW M1 we can slot into the garage.

Part 3: Other Challenges

A few things to turn your hand to this week, including some hiding in a bush in the Eliminator!

Photo Challenge – #MAINSTAGE

We need to photograph any car near the main stage at the Horizon Festival Mexico. Pretty easy, yeah?

Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece. The location you need to be in is below.

The reward? A new Black Modern Pueblo Dress.

Eliminator – Battle Royale

Get into the top 30 of players in a game of the Eliminator, and you can walk away with a cool prize.

An “It is the way” Forzalink phrase, no less.

Horizon Arcade – Mini Games

Complete any Arcade mini game to win a prize. They can be drift, speed, wreckage, chaos or air, so pick your fave and let it rip.

Take home 3 whole points for doing so.

Treasure Hunt – Track Daze

The clue this week reads “Revealing Treasure is a serious knack, try burning out near the test track””.

There’s a picture of a Formula Drift Corvette to accompany this awesome rhyme, so I guess you need to just perform a burnout near the test track area? I used the Formula Drift Mk IV Supra as it is much cooler.

I went to the start of the test rack and basically did a donut until it popped!

The chest contains 300FP, and the location is shown below.

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Frozen Rush

The vehicles for the PR Stunts in the Hot Wheels events are S1 900 Modern Sports cars. I used a Toyota GR Supra, share name “GRS1” with my GT, Red620Ti.

130mph average is needed, on ice, which is tricky, but doable. Approaching from the north means the zone is downhill, making things a tad easier.

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Elemental Hazard

We need an Unlimited Off road vehicle here, and so it is the Jeep Trailcat I chose, tuned to the limit of A Class 800. Share code is : 118411445.

The reward for racing? A Caterham R500.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Palm Forest

B class 700 SUV Hero car is needed here, and you won’t go far wrong with either a stock Maserati Levante or a stock Porsche Macan. Save the pennies!

We need to jump over 200m to triumph so make sure you take a run up. Hitting the ramp at over 100 mph saw me clear this easily. Go across country to get a straight run up.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.

Seasonal Championship – What’s for Desert?

An A Class 800 Rally Monster is needed for this championship, and so the Hoonigan Cossie V2 is up. Share code for mine is : 140648350.

Completing the championship will get us a #65 011 Desert. Yes, another Porsche…

The rewards for Series 40 and Winter in Forza Horizon 5

With Series 40 over the halfway point, the reward cars are certainly in reach. It’s the Porsche #92 RSR for 80 points and a Lotus 2-Eleven for 160 points that are up for grabs. You should have the first of these and be well on the way to the second by the end of this week.

Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 40 – Baja California Trail and Horizon Mexico Circuit. The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.

Grab enough points and Series 40 Winter also sees you given access to the exclusive Porsche 911 GT3 R, for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!

Join us next week as we look at Series 40 Spring; the final week of the series. From there, we can also look forward to the next Series, which should take us all the way up to Christmas.

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5.  It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
