Forza Horizon 5 Weekly Challenges Guide – Series 4 – Spring

-

Spring has sprung in Forza Horizon 5 and as the Series 4 challenge set begins to wind down, one last set of tasks await all drivers. Need a hand to get through the challenges on offer in Series 4 – Spring? We’ve got you sorted.

Whilst Spring signals the start of a new set of Forza Horizon 5 challenges, it does mean that Series 4 as a whole is slowly coming to a close. That means the World Cup is due to end real soon too, so if you are looking to help your country take down all others, time is fast running out.

It’s with the challenges for Series 4 – Spring where we can help out though, taking you through the finest cars and tunes available in order to help you nail the objectives, grab free cars and power on through to Series 5.  If you’re struggling with any of those put in front of you, read on as our Weekly Challenge Guide covering Series 4 – Spring helpfully helps out.

Part 1 – The Weekly Challenge – Country Rivals: UK vs Japan

Well, it’s finally come, the time when I have to choose between the country of my birth and my favourite car making nation. And, as I covered JDM cars last week, it’s only fair that I go with a British car for this one.

And what could be more British than an Aston Martin? James Bond, Cool Britannia and all that? Nothing, that’s right!

So I chose, as my basis for experimentation, the Aston Martin DB11 from 2017, mainly because it is a beautiful thing to look at, and a snip at only 300,000 credits. A little light tuning to the ceiling of A Class 800 involved nothing more than a change of brakes, suspension and gearbox, and so I set off to take on the world.

Step 1 – Own and drive any British or Japanese car made after 1999.

Buy or get in an Aston Martin DB11, and apply this tune: 723867622. Step complete!

Step 2 – In your chosen car, win a Dirt Racing Event.

Now, in order to make this car good in the next stage, that of drifting, I didn’t go my usual route of 4WD, so this may be a bit of a handful. However, persevere and the rewards will be yours.

My choice of event was Caldera Scramble, on top of the volcano, as it is a short and fast event. And who doesn’t want to sling an Aston Martin sideways through a twisty dirt track? Anyone with any sense, you say…

Step 3 – Earn a total of four stars from Drift Zones.

With Dirt Racing being so far out of this car’s comfort zone, the next challenge will provide a bit of welcome relief. Now, while drifting is primarily a Japanese art, and cars like the Toyota Supra and Hachi Roku are well known for it, any car can drift, and a rear wheel drive British bruiser should be great.

The easiest drift zone is Giro Encorvado, a very short course with two bends, and 15,000 points required for two stars. Do this twice and Bob’s your uncle! If you have yet to three star this drift zone, then 30,000 is where you need to be aiming.

My first run, not really trying, netted 23,000 points, so it is eminently doable.

Step 4 – With your chosen car, bank a total of 100,000 Skill Score.

This should be a snap.

Going to the scrub area on the left hand side of the map and going crazy over the jumps and smashing cactus should see this score come up in no time, as will doing some of the longer drift zones.

Basically pick your poison, just don’t bin it at 90K like I did.

Part 2 – Seasonal Championships

There are three different Seasonal Championships to enjoy through Spring of Series 4, with the following present…

Championship 1 – Thrillseekers

This championship follows the usual formula from the last few weeks, we are given a choice of six cars, one from each of the World Cup nations. Sticking with my British theme this week, I chose the McLaren 570S Coupe 2015 from the cars available.

If you completed the events from last week, you should one of these sitting snugly in your garage, but if not, pay the nice man at the Autoshow a mere 224,000 credits and it can be yours. This is an on road event, with a class restriction of S1 900. With a little light tuning the 570S soon became this: 179226463.

Do well in this event – ie, win the damn thing – and you’ll have the Ferrari 812 dropped into your garage.

Championship 2 – Home and Away

Again with the choice of cars, and again the plucky Brit was pulled from the ranks.

The races this time are again road based, and the same choice of cars means it is the McLaren 570S that gets the nod. The same tune and share code as before will see you right. (it is 179226463 in case you have forgotten).

Prove that you’re good enough to race both at home and in front of an away crowd and you’ll find yourself taking the keys for the TVR Speed 12 – just make sure you paint it in purple, yeah?

Championship 3 – Natural Selection

Again, the same pattern, but this time the cars are a little different.

The British contingent this time is the Aston Martin Vantage 2019, and it is again “limited” to only an S1 900. Taking this car as my starting point, I fettled it a little to make it breathe fire and eat Ferraris for breakfast (well, at least as a mid morning snack) and the share code is: 464639407.

With a racing V12 under the bonnet, garnished with a pair of turbos, it certainly isn’t shy!

The awesome Ford RS200 will be your reward here.

Part 3 – Weekly Challenges

Challenge 1 – Showcase Remix – Closing Ceremony

This is a remix Showcase event, as you may have guessed from the title, and as such challenges us to do things a little differently. You’ll be driving the VUHL 05RR (nope, I’ve not heard of it either) and trying to outdrive not only a plane, not only some bikers, but a man in a wingsuit!

Luckily, the Vuhl may not be a famous car, but it’s a quick one, and so victory should be well within your grasp.

The car that you’ll win for closing out the games is that of the VUHL 05RR.

Challenge 2 – Playground Games – Getting Hot in Here

But keep on all your clothes, to paraphrase Nelly!

This is the weekly enticement to get you into the Playground Games playlist, and so the cars this time around are again limited, this time to an A Class 800. Of the cars on offer, I chose the British Aerial Nomad, which should be ideally suited to these types of events.

You know the score by now, take part in a series of three events, win (or lose ) two them, and a prize is yours. It’s only a horn this week, but it’s better than a poke in the eye, I suppose.

My tune for the Nomad is 144860625.

Turn up the heat and you’ll find that the Tape Rewind horn is yours.

Part 4 – Other Challenges

Every week the Forza Horizon powers that be like to add a bit of variety away from the hardcore racing. Series 4 – Spring involves a Treasure Hunt, some Horizon Arcade Mini Games and the good old Photo Challenge.

Photo Challenge – #Highjump

Take a photo of a buggy class car, in the Dunas Blancas area of the map. Simples!

I decided to try and take the title of this challenge seriously, and take a photo of the car in the air, and my results can be seen below, along with the area you need to be in.

One of the easier ones, this week and the VW Class 5 Bug was the utilised car in order to get this one.

Forza Link Rewards may not be as exciting as a car, but you’ll earn the “Preparing for Take-Off” one here anyways.

Treasure Hunt – Blind Slided

Now, this is right up my alley as drifting is my bag, if you’ll allow me to tootle my trumpet for a while, and so when the clue says “There are two star shaped Dunas and a Desert Flyer sliding” it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what you need to do.

Namely, get in the Porsche Rothsport Racing “Desert Flyer”, and two star the Las Dunas Drift zone.

This will require a score of 75,000 points, and so a little light tuning may be in order. Or we could just go nuts, bang all the mods on but only drift suspension, and give it a try. My share code is 340010857.

I actually beat my previous PB on this run, scoring a crazy 176K drift points. The joys of over 1400 BHP I guess. Succeeding will reveal a treasure chest (unusual to have one two weeks in a row) and the location is shown below. It is right at the foot of the “Desert Dunes” danger sign to make it even easier to find.

50,000 of the finest in-game credits will be yours if you finish this Treasure Hunt.

Horizon Arcade – Mini Games

Same as last week for this challenge – you simply need to complete round three of any Horizon Arcade event. As I’m sure you know, they are the big pink circles on the map, and each has a theme. Incidentally, there is an achievement for finishing one of each, and also each time you complete a round you gain 20 Forzathon points, so it is a good way to get enough points to buy the cars from the shop.

I prefer drift events, but there are speed, wreckage, chaos and air events to try as well. Pick whichever tickles your fancy!

Following our guide should see you net the Series 4 – Spring free cars with relative ease. Pick up the points by nailing these challenges and you’ll have enough to tick off and bank the 25pts MG MG3 and the 40pt offering of the Pagani Zonda R.

If you’ve followed our guides over the last few weeks, you should well have some free cars in your garage. With these final challenges ticked off, the full Series 4 gifts of the Epic Saleen S7 for 100pts and the Koenigsegg Jesko in Legendary trim for 160pts should also be yours.

Next up is Series 5 of Forza Horizon 5’s challenges – what will that bring? Well, expect new cars, plenty of skills to show off, horns and points aplenty. We’ll be sure to cover what is needed, starting with Series 5 – Summer, as things kick off.

Of course, you’ll need the base game of Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC in order to take part in the Series 4 and then Series 5 events. It’s a game that’s freely downloadable via Game Pass and available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

As always, please let us know in the comments if this guide is of any use to you. We’d love to know what you make of our tunes.
