Forza Horizon 5 Weekly Challenges Guide Series 7 – Winter

-

Ah Winter. Whilst the northern hemisphere gets the wind, the rain, the ice and the snow, in Forza Horizon 5’s Mexican lands, it’s all about the Dry Season. It’s also all about the Weekly Challenges found in the Festival Playlist, and as Series 7 – Winter kicks into play, a number of new challenges, races and rewards come up for grabs. Should you be in need of a little hand in completing these, our full guide, car tunes and knowledge should be able to help you out.

Forza Horizon 5 Series 7 – Winter ushers forth plenty of new opportunities. There’s the chance to drive a Mexican supercar, to hit up some new PR Stunts and to partake in a number of Seasonal Championships as well as The Trial. The usual Photo Challenge is in place too, as is a bit of a Treasure Hunt. Hopefully we can help steer you through the challenges with ease.

Part 1 – Weekly Challenge – Mexican Supercar

A Mexican supercar, eh?

I’m not going to fall into the same trap as Richard Hammond here and start bad mouthing the Mexican car industry, but the car in question is a funny looking thing.

The VUHL 05RR looks like it means business, and I guess we’re about to find out if it does.

Chapter 1:  Echieverria Production

The traditional start to one of these challenges – own and drive the car in question.

It will cost a mere 100,000 Credits should you need to buy one. They do look good in white…

Chapter 2: Road and Racing

We have to now take this car and win a Road Racing event in it.

Out of the box it is a very handy S1 Class at 886, so I didn’t bother tuning it any higher. Pick a circuit or a sprint, whatever you prefer.

The car is a little slippy on the back end, so just be careful and you’ll be fine.

Chapter 3: Light N’ Fast

Can a VUHL 05RR maintain a speed in excess of 170mph for 15 seconds? Well, there’s only one road to try this on, the big main highway. And spoiler alert: It can!

Chapter 4: Like A Feather

The last challenge is to hit three stars on any danger sign. I’d recommend going for one of the ones with a shorter target, as although it’s light, the top speed of the VUHL isn’t interstellar.

I went for the Cannonball danger sign, and hit 187m on my first try.

Challenge complete.

Part 2 – Weekly Challenges

Series 7 – Winter challenges are plentiful. There’s the weekly Trial, some PR Stunts and those ever-so-slightly annoying Eventlabs. Just be thankful that rewards are attached to each.

Eventlab – ChopedBonzzai presents The Sierra Annual River Run

Even though the spelling of this person’s Gamertag makes me want to scream, I tried their creation.

Regular readers will know I’m not a fan of these creations usually, and I’d love to be able to tell you this was different, but it wasn’t.

We need to use any Unlimited Offroad car for this, with no class restriction, so I went with the old faithful Jeep Trailcat, tuned to A Class 800. The share code for the car is: 118411445

With no competition, it’s pretty straightforward, and the car that you win is pretty epic, a Mercedes Benz AMG CLK-GTR Forza Edition!

Eventlab – Niuina Presents Coaster

Another Eventlab to complete, and this time the only restriction appears to be you have to be sat in a car. Yes, anything goes, and so I decided to stay in the same Trailcat as the last event. I’m nothing if not frugal!

This is without doubt the stupidest event I have had the misfortune of playing, with the gimmick that you are having car trouble. I don’t know about you, but I don’t play Forza Horizon to crawl through city streets at 1mph…

Winning this event, which does not have competition for a change, grants you the Falling Horn. Which is something, I guess?

The Trial – Carrera De Resistencia

Ah, the Trial, the weekly test of teamwork and driving ability, against Unbeatable Driverbots.

This week we are tasked with taking a Retro Supercar, tuned to S1 Class 900, and winning best two out of three races. There can only be one choice for a Retro Supercar, surely, and it is the mighty AMG CLK-GTR, the non FE edition of the car we won for doing the Eventlab event earlier.

I tweaked it a tad and came up with: 151778032

And the prize? A Mexican Race Suit! Woo! I’m gonna stay in my pinata outfit though I think…

Danger Sign – Heights of Mulege

We have to take a Hot Hatch, tuned to C Class 600, and fling it 140m off the Heights of Mulege.

Not too tricky, except the run up is all off road, so I think something with off road ability is required.

I went with a bone stock Ford Focus RS, and limped over the distance. My top tip is to take a much longer run than you think you need, as the hill before the jump is a killer.

Your reward? A Super Wheelspin, as par for the course.

Speed Zone – Atlantes De Tula

Take a Mercedes Benz, tweak it gently to an S2 Class 998, and then blast through a Speed Zone at above 175mph average. What could be easier? Well, quite a lot of things as it turns out.

The ideal tool is the car we won for the Eventlab, as it is already the right level. I added AWD and a racing gearbox to make: 959 925821.

Be warned, this is not a pushover, and while approaching from the east seems to give a better run up, the last turn is tight.

Another Super Wheelspin will be winging its way to you if you clear this one.

Seasonal Championship – Offroad Tour

Unlimited Buggies and offroad racing go together like fish and chips – they just gel.

In this event, you have to come out on top against Highly Skilled Driverbots, with a tuning limit of B Class 700. I went with the Alumi Craft Class 10 Race car, and its share code is: 401432454.

This is easiest in a convoy, as then you only have to win two out of the three races.

The reward, ironically enough, is an Alumi Craft Class 10 Race car.

Seasonal Championship – Weather Perfect

Pickups and 4X4’s, to a maximum of C Class 600 is what’s required here, and so this will be some slower paced racing, I guess.

I went with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor from 2011, and the share code is: 139383916.

The prize for winning is, according to the game, a Velociraptor. Unsure if that’s a dinosaur or a car…

Part 3 – Other Challenges

Forza Horizon 5 isn’t all about the racing you know – it’s about taking pictures and hunting down treasure too…

Photo Challenge – #REACHINGSTARS

An easy challenge this week, simply take a photo of a Hypercar with the Gran Telescopio. See my effort below, along with where the Telescopio is.

Your reward is a Forzalink Phrase, “To the moon!”.

Treasure Hunt – On Top Of The World

The clue this week is “Anything can break the Stone Door with a three star rating”.

The only thing that made sense was a PR stunt, and Stone Door could be a reference to the Valle del las Ranas, so I tried the Puerta Petrea trailblazer, and lo and behold, it was the right one.

To get three stars, we have to complete this with more than 25 seconds on the clock, and we can use any car, so I chose a Hoonigan Escort, my fave off road car. The share code is:264985022.

For details of the treasure chest, please see below!

Horizon Open – Only Fordward

This is potentially the hardest challenge to get, requiring you to win a Horizon Open Racing event in a Ford. Now, winning is tough at the best of times, but being forced into using a Ford as well, makes it harder.

Whether there is room for some creative lobby management, with people taking it in turns to win, I don’t know, but something to look at maybe? With no idea what level or class the races will be, it’s impossible to recommend a car to you, I’m afraid.

The reward is the Hoonigan Escort, so it is worth having a crack at it.

And that’s your lot for Series 7 – Winter. Should you have been following our guides over the last few weeks then you’ll be well on your way to earning enough points for the Series 7 car rewards – the Ferrari SF90 for 80pts and the Ferrari 599 GTO for 160pts.

With Winter you should have also earnt enough to find the Ferrari 512TF (20pts) and the MG MG3 (40pts) rolling up to your garage. Partaking in the Monthly Rivals event will net you further points towards these, as will firing up FH5 on a daily basis and completing the Daily Challenges.

We hope that this little guide is able to see you through the depths of Series 7 – Winter and what the Festival Playlist brings. To play Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC, you’ll need to visit the Xbox Store. It’s freely downloadable through Game Pass.
