The tires are set to hit the asphalt on one of the most requested destinations in racing game history.

Playground Games has officially announced Forza Horizon 6, and in a reveal that has sent shockwaves through the automotive world (well, for those who hadn’t already guessed), the next entry in the critically acclaimed series is taking the Horizon Festival to Japan.

The game is set to launch first on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026, and in fantastic news for subscribers, it will be included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.

Revealed with the most brief of new teasers, this announcement is the culmination of years of fan speculation and dreams, promising a visually breathtaking and culturally authentic Japan as the ultimate playground for drivers.

A Dream Location for a Dream Game

The Forza Horizon series has consistently delivered some of the most vibrant, expansive, and utterly joyous open-world racing experiences in gaming. We’ve been huge fans from the very beginning. In our 5/5 review of Forza Horizon 5, we declared, “There has never been a better looking game, and it plays like an absolute dream.” We even wished we “could give it more than 5/5, but as I can’t, a perfect score will have to do.

Japan has long been the #1 most-requested location by fans for the Horizon Festival, a destination synonymous with rich automotive culture, stunning natural beauty, and bustling urban landscapes. The combination of Forza Horizon’s unparalleled open-world design with the iconic visuals of Japan is a match made in petrolhead heaven.

While the teaser trailer gives us just a glimpse, the promise of Forza Horizon 6 in Japan is already incredibly exciting.

A Breathtaking and Authentic World

Playground Games is renowned for its meticulous world design. Players can expect to discover a scenic, breathtaking, and culturally authentic Japan. This means not just stunning cherry blossom-filled landscapes and neon-lit cityscapes, but also a deep respect for the country’s unique cultural heritage, integrated seamlessly into the festival atmosphere.

The goal remains the same: to become a Legend at the Horizon Festival. This will involve tearing up the roads, performing insane stunts, and winning races across the diverse terrains of Japan.

Launching first on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass and PC, Forza Horizon 6 will undoubtedly leverage the full power of current-gen hardware to bring Japan to life with unprecedented visual fidelity and environmental detail.

Game Pass and Future Platforms

In a move that ensures as many players as possible can experience this dream location, Forza Horizon 6 will be included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch.

The developers have also confirmed an interesting development for PlayStation players: Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are working together to bring Forza Horizon 6 to PlayStation 5 post-launch. This cross-platform strategy aims to expand the reach of the Horizon Festival even further.

The engines are revving for what promises to be the most ambitious and visually stunning Forza Horizon game yet. With the festival finally making its long-awaited journey to Japan, a new chapter of automotive excellence is about to begin. We can’t wait for more details to drop early next year.

Until then, you can wishlist the game on the Xbox Store or Steam and dream of drifting through those iconic streets.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
