Mountaintop Studios is unleashing a new breed of tactical shooter with the launch of Spectre Divide on console.
This free-to-play 3v3 FPS, previously available on PC via Steam, is available today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, complete with cross-platform multiplayer.
And that’s not all – the game also receives its first major seasonal content update, “Flashpoint,” introducing a wealth of new features, including a movement overhaul, a revamped economy and loadout system, a new sponsor kit, a new map, a battle pass, and more.
Duality: The Ultimate Tactical Advantage
Spectre Divide sets itself apart with its unique “Duality” mechanic, allowing players to control two separate bodies in real-time. This innovative system opens up a world of tactical possibilities. Defend two locations simultaneously, cover your own flanks, or even trade places with your “Spectre” to outmanoeuvre opponents and gain a strategic advantage.
Death is merely a setback, as your Spectre provides a second chance to secure victory.
Gunplay and Gadgets Galore
Spectre Divide features tense and tactical gunplay, with a focus on precision aiming and strategic movement. Master an arsenal of 20 unique weapons, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Experiment with different loadouts and playstyles to discover the perfect combination for your tactical approach.
The game also boasts an array of futuristic gadgets and abilities, thanks to its “Sponsor” system. Choose from 9 different Sponsor kits, each offering a distinct loadout of tactical gear. Set traps, deploy smoke screens, support your teammates, or unleash a barrage of offensive firepower. The Sponsor system adds another layer of depth and customisation to the gameplay.
Competitive and Community-Driven
Spectre Divide caters to both competitive and casual players. Engage in ranked matchmaking to climb the leaderboards and prove your skills, or enjoy more relaxed matches in casual and custom game modes.
The game also features “Crews,” a weekly engagement-based competition where teams of 50-60 players compete for seasonal leaderboard dominance.
A Visually Striking World
The game’s visuals are inspired by sci-fi comic book art and classic cel animation, creating a unique and vibrant aesthetic. The hand-drawn style and clean visual design ensure clarity and readability during intense firefights.
But Spectre Divide also offers extensive customisation options, allowing players to personalise their characters with unique faces, hairstyles, tattoos, outfits, and weapons. Create your own distinct look and stand out from the competition as you climb the ranks and forge your legacy.
Free-to-Play and Feature-Rich
As a free-to-play title, Spectre Divide offers a wealth of content and features without any upfront cost. The game’s robust customisation options, competitive modes, and unique Duality mechanic create a compelling and engaging experience for players of all skill levels.
With Mountaintop Studios full of veterans previously behind Apex Legends, Valorant, Halo and more, there’s a chance this one will succeed.
A New Contender in the Tactical Shooter Arena
Spectre Divide is a promising new addition to the tactical shooter genre on Xbox (grab a download from the Xbox Store) and PlayStation, offering a unique blend of action and strategy. With its free-to-play model, cross-platform multiplayer, and ongoing content updates, Spectre Divide is poised to become a popular destination for competitive and casual FPS fans alike.
