Freediving Hunter: Spearfishing the World releases on Xbox One

In April 2014 the dreams of one man became reality as Carlos Suarez released his first game onto the App Store. Built around the spearfishing experiences he had taken in to feed his family, Freediving Hunter then spawned a sequel – Freediving Hunter Adrenaline on Android and iOS. Today though it is the same man who is hitting the console scene, delivering the first freedive spearfishing title to Xbox One – Freediving Hunter: Spearfishing the World.

Available to purchase and download from the Xbox Store right this very moment, Freediving Hunter: Spearfishing the World is the single-handed work of Suarez, all as he attempts to hit his ultimate goal of developing a multiplayer spearfishing experience.

In order for him to achieve that goal, experience is necessary and that is where Freediving Hunter: Spearfishing the World on Xbox One comes in. Allowing us to choose between a variety of different characters, in Freediving Hunter we’ll be tasked with becoming the champion Freediver, experiencing underwater environments that are teeming with life.

With the hunt for fish at the front and centre of this Spearfishing the World experience, for every successful hunt, every defeat of a challenger and each and every shot you pull off you’ll be rewarded with money and new gear; expect to see new masks, fins, guns and wetsuits all present and correct.

And as with most games, the more money you earn, and the better you become at spearfishing, the bigger the fish there will be, with more exotic species available for you to take down. You’ll have to be on your guard though, as the threat of sharks will ensure that every time you go out on the hunt, your task will be a challenging one.

Priced up at £16.99, if you’re looking for an underwater experience and just can’t wait for the stunning Beyond Blue to provide it, then we think Freediving Hunter: Spearfishing the World on Xbox One may well provide it. Our full review will be able to nail the finer details so keep an eye out for it, but in the meantime the Xbox Store will happily deliver the required download.

Game Description:

In this game, the player will choose their player character (male or female of various races/ethnicities) to compete against increasingly difficult spearfishing challengers from around the world with the goal of becoming the champion Freediving Hunter over all. On the way to becoming the champion the player will unlock lush saltwater marine environments around the world such as stunning reefs teeming with sea life, ancient shipwrecks and ruins, kelp forests, etc. in an exciting hunt for prized saltwater fish. The player will earn money with every fish they hunt, every challenger they defeat and every special shot they pull off, giving them the ability to buy new masks, fins, guns, wetsuits and flashlights to gain more advantage over their opponents and their prey. As the player conquers the depths, the fish will become bigger and more exotic. Of course, the player will also be warding off hungry sharks that are trying to steal their fish at all times while also avoiding the ever-present blackout danger, creating a very challenging, thrilling and suspenseful gameplay.
