Egging On
Egging On – out on Game Pass, Xbox and more

A new and brutally challenging journey into the sky has just rolled onto consoles and PC, and Egging On on Xbox is arriving as a Day One drop on Game Pass.

Egging On, a game that puts you in control of a single, fragile egg, has launched today. This hard-boiled physics-platformer from developer Egobounds and publisher Alibi Games is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Expect to pay a price of £12.49.

Prepare for a perilous journey where you are armed with nothing but a fragile shell and a slimy yolk. Can you take this lone egg to new heights without cracking under the pressure?

An “Egg-sistential” Crisis

Egging On is a game that will test your skills, your patience, and your sanity. You are an egg. You roll, you wobble, and you can crack. Your mission is to escape the hen-house and jump, roll, and climb your way through a farm shop, a factory, and other perilous environments.

This is a punishing precision platformer in the vein of Getting Over It. Any mistake could cost you a huge chunk of your progress, sending you tumbling back to the bottom. But if you keep your cool, you might just reach freedom.

Check out the yolk-dripping trailer here…

The Art of the Roll

The core of the challenge is the unique physics-based control system. You will need to synchronise your jump timing with your rolling cycle and leap from the very tip of the egg to get maximum height. This is a mechanic that is easy to understand but brutally difficult to master.

But why settle for a plain white shell? As you explore the detailed levels, you can unlock a variety of decorative skins to roll through the world in style. You can also find hidden collectibles in the form of stamps. Just don’t fall and lose them all!

From Game Jam to Game Pass

This unique and innovative title has a charming origin story. Developer Egobounds, a studio founded by two brothers in 2020, took part in the 2024 Polyjam Global Game Jam. Their project, ‘What came first’ (a physics-based platformer where you play as an egg racing a chicken across a kitchen), was selected for the ‘Best Execution’ award.

Egging On is the full, commercial debut that embodies that same spirit of innovation.

Your All-Access “Egg-spress” Pass

This is the best part for Xbox and PC players. Egging On is a Day One launch on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, meaning subscribers can jump into the insanity right now at no extra cost.

Furthermore, the game is a full Xbox Play Anywhere title. This fantastic feature means a single digital purchase on the Microsoft Store (or your Game Pass download) unlocks the game on both your Xbox Series X|S console and your Windows PC. All of your progress, unlocked skins, and frustration are synced via the cloud, so you can seamlessly switch between platforms.

Your “Egg-cyclopedia”

Here’s what you can expect from this hard-boiled adventure:

  • A Brutally Challenging Physics-Platformer where any mistake can be costly.
  • You are an Egg: Master the art of realistic, wobbly, fragile egg physics.
  • Unique Physics-Based Controls: Synchronise your jump with your roll-cycle for maximum height.
  • Unlockable Skins and Collectibles to “Egg-spress” yourself.
  • From an Award-Winning Game Jam Project.
  • Available Day One on Game Pass.
  • Full Xbox Play Anywhere Support.

The hen-house is open, and a perilous climb is waiting. If you’re a Game Pass member, there is absolutely no reason to miss this one. If you’re a fan of punishing-but-fair platformers and are ready for your next great challenge, Egging On is ready to crack you on the Xbox Store right now. There’s a PlayStation Store page, as well as the good old Steam page too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
