The Plucky Squire – on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Switch

There’s a world of words ready to open up, as The Plucky Squire releases onto Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a literary genius? Got some love for picture book gaming? Devolver Digital have got your back with the stupidly good looking The Plucky Squire. It’s available to purchase, download and play today, whether that be on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch or PC.

And if you’re on PlayStation, expect to find it as part of your PS Plus subscription. Good eh? Well, not as good as if it was on Game Pass, but we’ll let things slide…

Be plucky!

In the Plucky Squire you’ll find yourself working your way through a magical world, one in which words are found at the very core. It’s here where 2D and 3D elements combine, building out the charming adventure that unfolds. And, of course, it’s a game that is going to be full of challenge, of delight, of puzzles and of a hero making their way through a living storybook

The land of Mojo plays host to The Plucky Squire; a realm overseen by Queen Chroma. This place is also home to a bit of a legend though, Jot; the pluckiest of squires, the only one capable of taking on a multitude of challenges.

It’s here where Devolver Digital bring some expertise to the scene. Various folk are ready for chatting, as progress is made, mini-games are taken in, and Jot becomes ever more adept at the utilisation of swordplay. With various attacks front and centre, and plenty of enemies to get your teeth into, this is an adventure that should excite.

And if you need help, The Plucky Squire is full of accessibility options, dialling things down – or up – as you see fit. There’s even a Story Mode to take in should you find Adventure Mode too challenging.

The Plucky Squire Description

The Plucky Squire follows the magical adventures of Jot and his friends – storybook characters who discover a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book. When the malevolent Humgrump realizes he’s the villain of the book – destined to lose his battle against the forces of good for all eternity – he kicks the heroic Jot out of its pages and changes the story forever. Jot must face challenges, unlike anything he’s ever seen if he is to save his friends from Humgrump’s dark forces and restore the book’s happy ending. Jump between 2D and 3D worlds in this charming action-adventure – solving puzzles, boxing badgers, flying with a jetpack, and enjoying many more delightful and surprising mini-challenges as you become the hero of a living storybook.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
