One can always trust Capcom to dream up some crazy games for us to play through, and they don’t come much more wacky and action-packed than Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Inspired by the rich history of feudal Japan, this action-RPG will have you building villages by day, and slaying demons by night.
A Demonic Invasion
Who would have thought?! The Torii Gates have opened across the mountain villages, and demons known as the Seethe are spilling out, bringing anarchy to the area. We’ve seen it in the likes of Ghostwire: Tokyo, and lo and behold it’s happened again. It’s therefore up to our hack and slashing protagonist Soh to protect the mountains, and especially ensure the Maiden of the mountain – Yoshiro is kept safe. It is her, after all, that can cleanse the gates.
The day/night cycle present in Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess – now available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC (with a day-one launch onto Game Pass) – makes things a little bit like a tower-defense title. During the day, you’ll roam the village, recruiting residents to your cause and assigning them roles in preparation for the night. Once the Sun goes down, the Seethe will try and get at Yoshiro. Hopefully the villagers you have recruited can aid in your defense, and the Devil May Cry-esque combat will see you slashing demons with your trusty sword.
