The long-running tactical RPG saga continues as FRONT MISSION 3: Remake deploys onto Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, priced at £29.24, as well as PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This reimagined release brings one of the most beloved entries in the franchise back to the battlefield, rebuilt for modern hardware while retaining its strategic soul.

Published by Forever Entertainment and developed by MegaPixel Studio, FRONT MISSION 3: Remake revisits a future shaped by political unrest, corporate greed, and towering mechs known as Wanzers. For series veterans and tactical newcomers alike, this is another chance to experience a branching narrative driven by player choice and hard-fought, turn-based combat.

Two Paths Through A World On The Brink

At the heart of FRONT MISSION 3: Remake lies a story defined early by a single decision. Players step into the boots of Kazuki Takemura, whose routine delivery job spirals into chaos after he and his friend Ryogo become caught in a volatile military conflict.

From there, the narrative splits in two. One path sees Kazuki joining forces with his sister Alisa, while the other follows an investigation alongside covert operative Emma Klamsky into the mysterious M.I.D.A.S. weapons project. Both routes uncover different sides of the same global conspiracy, exploring themes of loyalty, family, and the ethical cost of technological power.

Tactical Combat Built Around Wanzers

Combat remains unmistakably Front Mission. Battles play out on grid-based maps where positioning, loadouts, and squad synergy matter just as much as raw firepower. Each Wanzer can be customised with different weapons, parts, and now even camouflage options, allowing players to tailor their machines to suit specific combat roles.

The remake also introduces refinements aimed at smoothing the experience, including improved animations and a new Quick Combat Mode for those who want to jump straight into the action without sacrificing depth.

Mission Briefing

Here’s what FRONT MISSION 3: Remake brings to the front line:

  • Two fully realised storylines shaped by an early narrative choice
  • Classic turn-based tactical combat featuring customisable Wanzers
  • Remade visuals and smoother animations for modern platforms
  • Reorchestrated music that reimagines the original soundtrack
  • New camouflage customisation for personalising your mechs
  • Quick Combat Mode for faster, streamlined battles
  • Available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC

How It Fits Within The FRONT MISSION Revival

The arrival of FRONT MISSION 3: Remake continues a steady resurgence for the franchise on modern platforms. Previously, FRONT MISSION 1st: Remake impressed us with a 4.5/5 score, where we said: “FRONT MISSION 1st: Remake proves that they don’t make them like they used to… In all, FRONT MISSION 1st: Remake is one of the better tactical RPGs on the market.

Meanwhile, FRONT MISSION 2: Remake earned a 3.5/5, praised for its rarity and challenge, even if it demanded patience: “FRONT MISSION 2: Remake is a game worth checking out if you like the genre… Although, it is flipping hard, so brace yourself!

With the third chapter now rebuilt and released, the saga’s evolution feels closer to completion than ever. And we’ll be back with our full review of FRONT MISSION 3: Remake on Xbox soon.

A Classic Tactical RPG, Rearmed For Modern Consoles

FRONT MISSION 3: Remake doesn’t chase trends or simplify its systems. Instead, it doubles down on the deliberate pacing, strategic planning, and narrative weight that defined the original.

Whether you are returning to the series or stepping into a Wanzer cockpit for the first time, this remake delivers a dense, choice-driven tactical experience across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One (here’s your Xbox Store link), PlayStation, Switch, and PC (Steam).

The war for the future has resumed, and every move still matters.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
