New games hit Game Pass this week

Forza Horizon 6 is finally here – and Xbox Game Pass subscribers are first in line for a high-speed road trip through Japan. But while Playground Games’ latest racer is undoubtedly the headline act, this week’s Game Pass refresh also throws in survival horror, cozy woodland adventures, chaotic pigeon espionage and one seriously intense co-op shooter.

It’s another stacked week across cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC, as multiple new games land into your Game Pass subscription. More hours in the day, anyone?

Forza Horizon 6 Finally Opens The Gates To Japan

There was only ever going to be one headliner this week.

Launching Day One into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass today (unless you jumped in with the Premium Edition), Forza Horizon 6 takes the open-world racing festival to Japan for the first time, delivering what Playground Games describes as the biggest and most vertically ambitious map in Horizon history.

Tokyo forms the beating heart of the experience, but the wider world stretches far beyond neon-lit streets. Rural mountain roads, industrial docklands and sprawling countryside all play a role, with more than 550 real-world cars available to drive from day one.

As expected, multiplayer remains central to the whole Forza experience. Players can jump into Car Meets, competitive races, drag events and the returning Eliminator mode, while the upgraded Horizon CoLab tools allow custom events to be built virtually anywhere in the world.

The ability to purchase homes, customise garages and even build within a dedicated mountain valley space also pushes personalisation further than ever before.

May 20th Brings One Of The Most Varied Lineups Yet

If Forza Horizon 6 dominates the headlines, May 20th quietly delivers one of the most eclectic Game Pass drops in recent memory.

Dead Static Drive expands into Game Pass Premium while remaining available through Ultimate and PC Game Pass, bringing its strange blend of survival horror and road-trip storytelling to cloud, console and PC.

Described as ‘Grand Theft Cthulhu’, it throws players into a collapsing version of 1980s America filled with paranoia, creeping horror and supernatural dread. It’s weird, unsettling and immediately stands out from the crowd.

On the opposite end of the spectrum sits My Friend Peppa Pig, which joins across cloud, console and PC. Designed for younger players, it lets fans step directly into the world of the animated show, exploring locations, solving simple tasks and creating their own adventure alongside Peppa and family.

Then there’s Pigeon Simulator – a game that fully embraces absurdity. You play as a government-employed pigeon tasked with investigating paranormal anomalies around New Squawk City, either solo or alongside friends. Expect flying, cooing, gadgets and, naturally, highly sophisticated pooping mechanics.

Big Adventures And Cozy Survival Round Out The Week

Elsewhere, Remnant II arrives across cloud, console and PC, bringing its acclaimed co-op action RPG gameplay to subscribers. With its mix of punishing combat, dynamic worlds and replay-focused structure, it remains one of the stronger multiplayer experiences in recent years.

Meanwhile, Winter Burrow offers something much calmer. This cozy woodland survival game follows a mouse returning home to rebuild a ruined burrow while uncovering the mystery behind a missing aunt. Crafting, knitting, baking and exploration all sit at the centre of the experience, giving it a very different pace compared to the rest of this week’s arrivals.

Finally, May 21st sees Luna Abyss launch Day One into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Set beneath the surface of a mimic moon, this atmospheric sci-fi adventure places players in the role of a prisoner forced to explore a sprawling megastructure filled with long-dead secrets and unsettling mysteries. Overseen by an AI prison guard and surrounded by the whispers of the Abyss itself, it looks set to lean heavily into tension and atmosphere.

Another Wildly Diverse Week For Game Pass

This week’s lineup is pretty broad. From blockbuster racing and Lovecraftian horror through to cozy survival and bizarre pigeon conspiracies, Xbox continues to lean into Game Pass as a platform where almost anything can sit side by side.

Of course, Forza Horizon 6 is going to dominate the conversation – but there’s a very good chance some of the smaller additions end up stealing plenty of attention too. As always, let us know what you’ll be playing. The Xbox Store awaits your decision.

What’s Next For Game Pass?

And if this week wasn’t enough, the next wave of Game Pass additions is already shaping up nicely. The week of May 25th brings titles including Escape Simulator, Day One releases Echo Generation 2, Crashout Crew and Kabuto Park, alongside the arrival of The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition across cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Then, heading into June, things ramp up again with Final Fantasy VI continuing the classic RPG rollout on June 2, while Jurassic World Evolution 3 stomps onto the service the very same day.

Safe to say, Game Pass subscribers won’t be short on things to play anytime soon.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
