Garfield’s Worst Nightmare
It all starts when Jon feeds Garfield some spinach lasagna inspired by Chef Monday’s recipe. Naturally, Garfield falls into a deep sleep, only to discover that his dreams have become a horrifying place filled with vegetables and sugar-free sweets.
There is only one way out. Garfield needs to travel through his bizarre nightmare, regain his taste buds and, most importantly, consume a frankly impressive amount of lasagna.
That means platforming, enemies, collectibles and plenty of opportunities for Garfield to demonstrate that being lazy doesn’t necessarily mean being incapable.
Three Costumes, Three Very Different Garfields
Garfield can jump, climb walls and curl himself into a ball as he navigates the nightmare worlds, but his feline abilities aren’t his only advantage.
Three special costumes give him some rather unusual additional skills. The turkey suit lets Garfield take to the air, the surfer outfit allows him to skim across water, while the cowboy costume comes complete with a lasso for swinging around the environments.
Jon, Odie, Arlene and Pookie are also around to help, although Garfield still has to watch out for troublemakers including Nermal and Squeak.
Lasagna Is The Key To Home Improvement (Obvs)
The adventure stretches across three worlds and more than 40 levels, with enemies to defeat and lasagna to collect along the way.
Those collectibles have a purpose beyond keeping Garfield’s stomach happy too. The more you gather, the more rooms you can customise, allowing you to refurbish Jon’s house with a variety of surprising items.
It gives the platforming a little extra purpose beyond simply reaching the end of each level, while the different costumes and challenges help keep Garfield moving when he’d probably rather be curled up somewhere comfortable.
Monday Has Never Been This Much Work
Garfield – Escape From Monday takes one of the world’s most famously lazy characters and puts him in a situation where sitting around simply isn’t an option.
With colourful worlds, more than 40 levels, familiar faces and enough lasagna to make even Garfield consider getting off the sofa, this is a very different kind of Monday for the orange cat.
Available now for ÂŁ24.99 on Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store), PC, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, Garfield’s latest adventure proves that sometimes even a cat who hates Mondays has to get up and do something about it.
