Are you ready to undertake a new mission? A suicide mission, perhaps? With the Hivebusters expansion for Gears 5 that is exactly what you’ll be involving yourself with.
Available to purchase and download right now, Gears 5: Hivebusters expands on the original base game – an original base game that is utterly superb btw – to deliver an all-new campaign that takes place on the volcanic isle of the Galangi. Roughly running at three hours in length if you’re looking for a new reason to squad up once again then this suicide mission looks set to provide it.
Hivebusters brings forth Lahni, Keegan and Mac as they partake in their first Hivebuster operation, one that will see them going about destroying a Swarm hive. With a new predator frequenting the island, you’ll need to draw on all your Gears skills in order to find success, with new Ultimate Abilities available for use.
Gears 5: Hivebusters holds content for the solo player, through 3-player cooperative play, across split-screen or via the online scene, bringing with it a host of new achievements and Gamerscore in the process. It’ll cost you £14.99 to get involved, yet you’ll find it available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate too.
What’s more, if you don’t have a copy of the base game of Gears 5 to hand – and really you should – then an all-new Game of the Year Edition is also available. This brings together the base game of Gears 5, this new Hivebuster expansion, no less than 30 days worth of glorious Boost AND the Halo: Reach Character pack. It’s probably the best way to get access to everything and anything Gears 5 has to hold, with a £54.99 price tag in place. Alternative, utilise that Xbox Game Pass for all you’ve got.
Let us know in the comments if you’ll be busting some hives with the latest Gears 5 content. Keep an eye out for a review of this expansion too.
DLC Description:
Return to Gears 5 with the new Hivebusters campaign expansion. Play as Lahni, Keegan and Mac – the heroes of Gears 5’s Escape mode – on their first operation as part of the secretive Hivebuster program. Thrown together and dubbed “Scorpio Squad,” their suicide mission to destroy a Swarm hive may hold the key to saving Sera and their own redemption.
“GOTY Edition”. LOL. It wouldn’t have even won a best Unreal Engine 4 game of 2019 because Days Gone is photo realistic compared to the steroid taking looking characters of Gears from the last last gen first game to present.
Cheers for your thoughts as always, Andrew. Hope you have a great Xmas and New Year!
