Geralt’s Journey Gets A Fresh Coat Of Polish
The story remains centred on Geralt’s search for his adopted daughter, Ciri, as the spectral Wild Hunt closes in on her extraordinary powers. That journey takes players through the war-torn Northern Kingdoms, from bustling cities and remote villages to ancient ruins and dangerous wilderness.
Remastered brings changes to the way Geralt develops and battles his enemies. The skill system has been reworked, combat has been refined, and updated animations give movement and encounters a more fluid feel.
There’s plenty of familiar Witcher preparation involved, too. Swords, potions, bombs and combat magic remain essential tools when facing the monsters lurking across the Continent.
Two Expansions Included
This edition also brings together the two acclaimed expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, giving players even more stories to experience. The latter takes Geralt into the colourful realm of Toussaint, while both expansions introduce new characters, choices and adventures.
Visual improvements, enhanced lighting, upgraded textures and a refreshed interface round out the package. PC players also get path tracing, while cross-platform mod support opens the door to community-created content on supported platforms.
Revisiting A Classic
We first reviewed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back in 2015, praising its engrossing story, memorable action and striking scenery, while noting that technical issues could occasionally get in the way.
Our later Complete Edition review in 2022 awarded the game 4.5/5, describing the update as a welcome improvement to an already celebrated RPG.
For anyone who has never followed Geralt’s trail, this is an opportunity to discover one of gaming’s most celebrated fantasy adventures. And for returning players, there’s plenty of reason to saddle up Roach and head back into the wilds.
You will find The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on the usual storefronts right now. If you’re an Xbox gamer, the Xbox Store will sort you out. And remember, if you already own the game, a free upgrade will be yours.
