Prepare for a journey into the bizarre heart of the Anomaly as Strings Theory comes to Xbox.
Strings Theory, a self-proclaimed “wacky puzzle / arcade game” from developer and publisher BeautifulBee, has arrived today on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Previously available on Switch and Steam, Strings Theory comes to Xbox with a £13.24 price, inviting you to control the very particles of life itself in a brain-twisting adventure.
Inspired by the “romantic side of physics,” Strings Theory drops you into the strange land of the Anomaly, where unknown forces converge. You’re not alone, however. You’ll take control of three unlikely heroes – personified strings, no less – each with their own personality and crucial skills needed to save the microcosm from a deadly threat.
Meet the Misfit Strings
Saving the universe often falls to the most unexpected heroes, and Strings Theory is no exception.
You’ll control three key ‘strings’, each with distinct personalities and vital skills. There’s Telly, a hot-headed wannabe hero whose lack of brains is compensated by pure strength, perfect for pushing obstacles out of your way. Then you have Isaac, a mysterious and intelligent chap with a keen interest in physics, capable of phasing through floors to reach otherwise impossible places. Finally, meet The Twins, Norm and Sal, who act like opposite poles of a magnet – useful when separated for unique interactions, but always happy to snap back together when needed.
Can this odd bunch truly save the world? Only with your guidance.
Brain-Twisting Puzzles & Arcade Timing
Across more than 50 brain-twisting levels, you’ll need to swap between these stringy heroes on the fly, strategically utilising their distinct abilities to navigate treacherous environments and solve intricate puzzles. The goal in each stage is to collect the scattered quanta of energy and successfully reach the exit wormhole.
However, the Anomaly is far from safe; it’s filled with surprising dangers designed to test both your planning and your reflexes. Beware of Deatomizers that can evaporate your strings instantly, sudden trapdoors leading to the void, gravitiles that flip gravity on its head, and ever-moving kinetiles demanding precise timing.
You’ll need sharp wits for strategic planning coupled with good old-fashioned arcade skills to survive these hazards and master each challenging stage.
Unique Co-op Chaos
While perfectly playable solo by swapping between characters, Strings Theory also features a unique local co-op mode for up to 3 players. Gather your friends around a single screen, with each player controlling a different string.
Here’s the twist: only one string can move at any given time! This forces communication, coordinated strategy, and likely a fair bit of hilarious chaos as you solve the puzzles together.
