Despite being the infamous quote of Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion, Get Over Here isn’t a brutal fighting game. Instead, Get Over Here seemingly plays on the aforementioned character’s hooking action and makes that its core concept in a competitive arena setting. Will you be delving into this latest local offering to arrive on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One?
As a dynamic, and undoubtedly competitive, couch game, Get Over Here attempts to draw on 90’s nostalgia first and foremost. The idea is for up to four players to battle each other, or work in teams, using one of 12 different characters. They’ve all got Hook Guns, which enables you to fire shots at will and pull the opposition close enough to finish them off – when you’ll almost definitely find yourself shouting those three words.
While the hooking mechanic is the main draw, it’s worth noting there are variations to the gameplay in the form of four rule sets as well as two game modes – Classic and Soccer. Depending on the length of time you wish to spend playing, there’s a fast play option and a proper Tournament setup. There are also six unique arenas to battle within, each possessing devious traps to watch out for.
So, if you’re in the market for a local multiplayer arena game to play with family and friends, Get Over Here is available on the Xbox Store, where it’s priced at a rather reasonable £4.19. As always, feel free to leave a comment below and let us know whether you’ll be picking it up!
