Ghostrunner originally launched in October 2020, but in true parkour fashion this game cannot be stopped, dashing from strength to strength. Ghostrunner’s next dash delivers a hefty next-gen update on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, available today!
The upgrade is free for players who already own Ghostrunner on Xbox One or PS4. If you don’t already have the game it’s available for £24.99 on the Xbox Store, Steam and the PlayStation Store. A Nintendo Switch version of the game is also available via the eShop, but it won’t include any of next-gen enhancements.
Ghostrunner’s next-gen upgrade will include an all-new Ray Tracing fidelity mode, making those neon lights shinier than ever. Other additions also include 3D audio and instant loading times so the action never stops. 4k resolution and 120FPS are also supported in the update. All previously released content like additional difficulties are included here too. If you play the game with a DualSense controller on PS5 or PC, you’ll be able to take advantage of the controller’s haptic feedback.
In a sea of cyberpunk themed video games Ghostrunner still managed to stand out thanks to its fluid and fast parkour movement system. The game has you zip around environments in true sci-fi ninja fashion, running across walls, grappling to the side of ledges and dashing around. It’s a kinetic fantasy we don’t get to experience too often in games and not often at all in first-person games. It’s tough-as-nails but so, so satisfying to slice up enemies with an insanely powerful sword.
We enjoyed Ghostrunner here at TheXboxHub, it’s “great sense of movement” and visceral combat were enough to win us over. The game did suffer from technical issues at launch, too, but after several updates they shouldn’t be an issue anymore. If you haven’t picked up Ghostrunner by now, there couldn’t be a better time to jump in.
Just head to that digital store of your choosing and take home the newly optimised next-gen versions of the game right now.
Ghostrunner offers a unique single-player experience of fast-paced, violent combat, and an original setting that blends science fiction with post-apocalyptic themes. It tells a story of a world that has already ended and its inhabitants who fight to survive.
